A thousand miles from the austere buildings where Washington runs, Donald Trump’s transition team in his Mar-a-Lago resort has begun what a close ally calls a hostile takeover of the federal government. His transition teams have yet to set foot inside a single federal office. Trump claimed the correspondence was collected unlawfully and belonged to the transition team. Leaders of the Trump transition said days before the election that they planned to sign the agreements with the GSA and the White House and were negotiating details with the Biden administration. Trump’s team did not provide names, and still hasn’t, according to people familiar with the transition.

A top U.S. envoy met with Lebanese officials for a second day, continuing an unusually long visit amid cautious optimism over a potential cease-fire agreement in the war between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Amos Hochstein, the senior Biden administration envoy, said that there had been progress due to the latest discussion, and that he is going to travel to Israel “to try to bring this to a close if we can.” On Tuesday, Mr. Hochstein said that the gaps between Israel and Hezbollah had “narrowed” in discussions in recent weeks. This is the Biden administration’s last-ditch effort to close a deal before President-elect Donald J. Trump takes office in January. Mr. Hochstein said that the Biden administration would coordinate with the incoming Trump administration over cease-fire efforts in Lebanon, and that he did not think the transfer in power would impact efforts to bring peace. Sheetz, the gas station and convenience store chain, is slashing prices at some of its pumps ahead of the busy Thanksgiving travel period. Effective immediately, the price of its Unleaded 88 is being reduced by 40 cents per gallon. Drawing in people with cheap gas could help give convenience store sales a boost. But it’s an odd time to cut gas prices, which are below $3 a gallon in 31 states and hovering at $3.06 a gallon nationally. “Gas prices, after two-plus years of sizzling because of outside factors like Covid and Russia, are finally coming back into balance,” GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan previously told CNN.

So what is it like to be a woman right now? So what is it like to be a woman right now? The poem “Not Waving, but Drowning,” by Stevie Smith, comes to mind. I feel like I’m bobbing around in freezing-cold water, fighting a rip current, yelling and waving to be heard. We always do, but before we’re asked to “keep fighting the good fight,” we ask that you read the room.
