Walmart Withdraws From Diversity Initiatives Amid Conservative Backlash The retail giant rolls back DEI policies following pressure from conservative activists and recent legal challengesWalmart, the world’s largest retailer, has made headlines by rolling back its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, becoming one of the most significant corporations to do so amid increasing conservative scrutiny. This move has sparked debates about the future of corporate diversity efforts, especially following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling against affirmative action. Alongside these changes, Walmart stated it aims to monitor its online marketplace, becoming more vigilant about products it claims might be inappropriate for minors. A group of Democrats recently urged Fortune 1000 companies to maintain their DEI initiatives, emphasizing their importance for fostering opportunities for historically excluded individuals. Only time will tell where this corporate tug-of-war leads, as both proponents and opponents of DEI initiatives stand firm on their respective positions.

In the middle of the night after the election, one of our students dashed off an email, panicking about the future of American democracy. But the institutional framework of the United States is firm and resilient. This is unlikely to happen in the United States. Of course the line everyone wants to hear/read about is the top line, which had Connor Bedard back at center between Taylor Hall and Philipp Kurashev. I think the assumption based on the lines is that Dickinson will be on the third line between Nick Foligno and Joey Anderson. This line absolutely fascinates me because they’ve spent a whopping 79 seconds of 5-on-5 ice time together thus far this season. I’ll note that Thompson shares an agent with current Blackhawks Craig Smith and Frank Nazar. Blackhawks forward prospect Aidan Thompson is on a 14-game points streak and is second in college hockey in points and third in goals.

I thought of Aunt Carol’s formative years as part of what I discovered SAGE and the Movement Advancement Project call the Silenced Generation. I cannot change what happened in my family, but I will continue to tell Aunt Carol’s story whenever and however I can.
