The President’s decision to make the entire electoral schedule public is an unprecedented step for Kazakhstan’s political practice. This proposal is a thoroughly considered decision, which, if approved by the Parliament, will determine the future of Kazakhstan’s political system. The initiative on a single presidential term is a logical progression of steps already taken to finally move away from the super-presidential model. The registration procedure for political parties will be simplified, which is already contributing to the emergence of new parties, new faces in politics, and increased political competition. The new reform gives a start to the electoral cycle, which will allow a restart of the entire political system.

In Balochistan and Southern Punjab, in most cases, entire cities have drowned, and the people have nowhere to go. More than a hundred thousand people are still at the mercy of an unexceptional rain spell that wreaked havoc in Pakistan. We have observed climate change become a great threat to the communities of Pakistan. Every year we face floods and other natural disasters but unfortunately, we never learn to control and manage these catastrophes. Respiratory infections and gastrointestinal infections are some of the main reasons behind the diseases and death of people who are displaced due to floods.

Khartoum- Renewed tribal clashes in Sudan’s southern Blue Nile state have killed seven people, state media reported Friday, despite a ceasefire agreement between rival groups following deadly violence weeks ago. “The regrettable tribal clashes renewed on Thursday afternoon… without any clear reasons and despite sincere efforts by the government to stop hostilities,” the official SUNA news agency reported, quoting a statement by security services in Blue Nile state. The clashes left seven dead and 23 others wounded, it said, adding that the violence was centred in East Ganis village and in and around the town of Roseires. “The situation is very bad now — fires and gunfire everywhere,” said Hussein Moussa, a resident of a village east of Roseires. The clashes at the time erupted after Hausa tribes requested the creation of a “civil authority”, which rival groups saw as a means to gain access to land.

This is not the first time that such an opinion has been voiced—the discourse on more provinces has been relevant for quite some time. Many have in the past spoken up about the absurdity of only a few provinces in a country with a burgeoning population. Secondly, PTI must realise that making new provinces from the existing provinces would require approval from a two-thirds majority of the respective legislatures and the parliament—given the current disarray and almost complete breakdown in any dialogue between the opposition and government due to the stubbornness of both, this appears an impossibility. Breaking down the provinces into smaller administrative units would require problems to be resolved at a more local level, which can be done only through strengthening the local government as per the constitution. PTI cannot throw big ideas in the air, like more provinces, without demonstrating to the public that it can walk the talk i.e.

By Zahra NiaziSince its establishment in 1947, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has always done a commendable job defending the nation and its aerial frontiers during wartime and peace. In these unprecedented times, the PAF has risen to the occasion and is rendering ceaseless service to the nation. During this episode, the Chaklala air base served as ‘the lifeline for the quake-affected people by serving as a major operational area for delivering relief goods. Airbridge was also established by the PAF to facilitate the evacuation of those affected and the provision of relief goods.
