Why Jesse Puljujarvi should be playing in Edmonton’s top six
Not to mention, Edmonton’s top-six players see an increase in their 5v5 production with Puljujarvi on-ice, as opposed to without. Puljujarvi is Edmonton’s best 5v5 defensive forwardThere has certainly been debate amongst media and fans alike regarding Puljujarvi’s defensive value. Some say that Puljujarvi cannot be a proficient defensive player because he doesn’t penalty-kill, but this is a flawed argument. Just because a player kills penalties, it doesn’t mean they’re a great 5v5 defensive player and vice versa. Not to mention, Edmonton’s top-six isn’t anything spectacular defensively, and a player like Puljujarvi will help in that regard.

This week, Putin mentioned that pipeline gas supplies to Pakistan were possible and part of the infrastructure was already in place. The long-delayed gas pipeline vital to the south Asian country’s economy - the Pakistan Stream gas project, also known as the North-South gas pipeline - is to be built in collaboration with Russian companies. The Pakistan-Russia defence cooperation has also steadily increased and it is marked by frequent high-level contacts between the two countries. Under the landmark ‘Defence Cooperation Agreement’ signed during the Russian Defence Minister’s visit to Pakistan in November 2014.

Govt plans to allot state land in Cholistan to 20,000 local farmers
Share:LAHORE - The Punjab government has decided to allot state land in Cholistan to 20,000 local farmers for cultivation in a phased programme. Decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held under the chair of Punjab Chief Minister Ch Parvez Elahi at his office on Friday. The chief minister directed that a plan be devised to give government lands in the expanse of Cholistan to 20,000 local farmers for temporary cultivation for a period of five years in a transparent manner. The chief minister said that government would resolve Cholistan farmers’ problems on a priority basis. The chief minister said that his party had always raised its voice for freedom of the Press.

Chontra police arrest 6 gangsters during search operation
Share:Rawalpindi-Chontra police have carried out a search operation in Sangral and Khingar and held six gangsters besides recovering arms and ammunition from their possession, informed a police spokesman. Separate cases have been registered against the accused with Police Station Chontra, he said. According to him, a team of PS Chontra, under the command of Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Division Ahmed Zunair Cheema, conducted a massive search operation in the areas of Sangral and Khingar. “Police conducted search operation in order to maintain law and order and flush out the hardcore criminals,” said SP Ahmed Zunair Cheema, in a statement. Saddar Bairooni police also nabbed two POs identified as Ameer and Naseer who were wanted by police in murder cases.

A nation let down
Pakistan should have never agreed to talk to the TTP (A Monumental Folly, by this scribe, The Nation, 23 September 2013). If it continues in the same spirit, it will cause the entire political system to implode, collapse on itself and take the nation down with it. A well-considered “whole-of-the-nation” plan of action would have by now been made and put into action. The energies, faculties, capabilities, capacities, and resources of the entire nation would have converged to save, secure and rehabilitate the over 33 million of our brethren who have been devastated by these floods. He would have made certain that the nation emerged stronger, more unified and self-confident from this ordeal than ever before.

Will Dylan Holloway Start the Season in Edmonton?
Due to Covid and injuries, Dylan Holloway has only played a total of 91 regular season hockey games the past three seasons. Janmark and Foegele are established NHL players. So if Holloway is going to contribute in Edmonton, it will start at 5×5 and on the PK. He had a great season of training and the struggles from late last season are in the past. With Kane and Hyman here to start the season, it is doubtful Puljujarvi will get much PP time.

How could a list of the Top 100 high school football players in the history of the state include just 10 from San Diego? In addition to the players, 13 coaches were chosen for induction, including Herb Meyer, who won 338 games at Oceanside and El Camino, including 10 CIF San Diego Section championships. San Diego CIF Commissioner Joe Heinz, who played football at Chula Vista High and San Diego State, wasn’t a member of the committee. Muller graduated from Oakland Tech, but played football at San Diego High. So, however, is John Carroll, who went 248-75-6 at Oceanside, won 13 San Diego Section championships and a pair of State titles.

Germany announced an additional €10 million for flood victims
ISLAMABAD: German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfred Grannas on Thursday announced that Germany would provide an additional €10 million to help to deal with the devastating effects of recent flooding. In his tweet, the German Ambassador said that Germany’s total aid for Pakistan has reached €24 million and vowed, “We will continue to stand by Pakistan during this tragic time.”The aid will supply food, hygiene products, medical supplies, etc., to the flood victims in Pakistan.

Rupee extends losses against US dollar in interbank
Share:The Pakistani rupee continued to lose its value for the tenth consecutive session, falling by Rs0.68 against the US dollar in interbank market. According to Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the local currency was trading at Rs235 against the dollar in interbank market after losing Rs0.68 during intraday trading. In the last nine consecutive trading sessions, the Pakistani rupee fell by 6.9 percent, or Rs15.77, against the greenback. A day earlier, the local currency continued its losing streak against the US Dollar for the ninth consecutive working day, falling by Rs2.40 in the interbank market. According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the local currency closed at Rs234.32 per dollar.
