Kenny McIntosh taken by Seattle Seahawks in 2023 NFL Draft
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Georgia tailback Kenny McIntosh was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 237th pick in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. McIntosh enters the NFL after establishing himself as the most versatile back in Bulldogs history, catching 43 passes for 504 yards in addition to his team-high 150 carries for 829 yards with a team-high 12 touchdowns. McIntosh is one of just three players in the SEC since 2000 to have more than 500 yards receiving, 800 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns in one season, joining Ole Miss’ Dexter McCluster and Florida’s Percy Harvin.

Munir urges Sethi to take action on objections raised on cricket elections
He criticized those who are monitoring the election process and accused them of trying to keep Sethi away from the facts for personal interests. He pointed out that the elections were the responsibility of the PCB Management Committee and should be conducted in a fair and transparent manner. Upon the request of friends connected with cricket, he recently met with Chairman PCB Management Committee Najam Sethi and shared with him the facts, shortcomings, and complaints regarding the elections. According to Munir, Sethi has assured him of making the election process more transparent. To do so, Sethi needs to choose a better team to complete the election process in a fair and professional manner.

Lawyers to protest if bill on suo motu powers snubbed
The legal fraternity on Saturday warned that if the bill that deprived the country’s top judge of his discretionary powers to initiate suo motu proceedings and form benches on his own was not vested on May 2 (Tuesday), the lawyers would launch a countrywide protest. The lawyers associations issued the contents of a resolution passed during a convention of the bar councils hosted by the Balochistan Bar Council in Quetta. The event was presided over by the Pakistan Bar Council and attended by the high-ups or representatives of all the provincial bar councils, high court bar associations and district bar associations,Earlier in the day, as per the Supreme Court’s roster, the top court will resume hearing the pleas against the SC (Practice and Procedure) Bill 2023 on May 2. In their resolution, the lawyers pointed out that they had been trying for almost a decade to regulate the discretionary powers of the CJP and lauded parliament for passing the law that created a balance among the judiciary. The resolution read that the convention disapproved the unprecedented pre-emptive interim order passed by an eight-member bench of the SC seeking to prevent the legislation from coming into force.

Martyred soldiers of Lakki Marwat attack laid to rest
Funeral prayers of three Pakistani soldiers, who were martyred while fighting terrorists in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Lakki Marwat district a day earlier, were offered at their respective hometowns on Saturday, the military said in a statement. The military's media wing said that the soldiers embraced martyrdom while fighting terrorists on the night of April 27-28, 2023. Lahore: CTD kills two TTP terrorists in IBO
Share:The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab police have killed two and arrested three terrorists associated with proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and outlawed Al-Qaeda in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Lahore. According to CTD officials, the killed terrorists were identified as Irfan Ullah and Illyas while Haris, Saif and Abrar of the banned Al-Qaeda and TTP were arrested in Lahore. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) investigated 49 suspected individuals in 48 intelligence-based operations. Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab police claimed to have killed two terrorists associated with proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a shootout. The terrorists were planning an attack on law enforcement agencies when they were neutralized, the CTD spokesperson said.

Green-light given for 20% hike in drug prices
Inflation-hit people were given another shock on Friday when the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet approved a rise of up to 20% in retail prices of general medicines and 14% for essential ones, prompting immediate criticism from drug manufacturers who said the increases were too small. Similarly, it allowed increase in the market retail price of all other drugs up to 20% on the basis of average CPI for the current year. Wheat procurementThe ECC fixed the wheat procurement target at 5 million metric tons for Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan for the new crop. The ECC fixed the 3.5 million metric tons wheat procurement target for Punjab for buying the commodity at Rs3,900 per 40kg. A finance ministry handout stated that the Ministry of Aviation submitted a summary on challenges and re-opening of Roosevelt Hotel, New York.

144 arrested in crackdown against gutka, mainpuri
The Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon spearheaded crackdown against cancer-causing tobacco chews mainpuri and gutka and other narcotics, seems to be belittling the actions of law enforcement agencies in the same domain. Sharing the statistics on Friday of the 36-hour progress in the operation in Hyderabad, the minister disclosed that 144 suspects involved in the illegal and health injurious businesses have been arrested and booked in 119 FIRs. "The Hyderabad police and the district administration have started a grand operation against mainpuri, gutka and drugs," Memon wrote in his twitter post. He vowed to see the operation spread to all districts in the province. According to the statistics, the police recovered 12,255 grams of hashish, 750 grams of methamphetamine ice, 67,123 packets of gutka and 17,722 packets of mainpuri in addition to 295 liters of liquor in the raids.
