Assassination bid: Imran Khan names three persons for ‘attempt on his life’
Imran Khan was shot in the leg but was stable while being taken to hospital. He said that Imran Khan called him and Aslam Iqbal for a meeting in the hospital. He further told that Imran Khan had been taken to operation theatre where his detailed evaluation would be carried out. Dr Faisal said that after detailed evaluation, Imran Khan would be given surgical treatment for chipped tibia bone and removal of bullet fragments. Footage on television showed an injured Imran Khan waving to supporters after reportedly being shot and then being carried to his bulletproof pickup truck.

China to export high-speed train technology to Pakistan

UK announces first projects for Pakistan’s ‘Climate Finance Accelerator’ initiative
The UK has announced that seven innovative low-carbon projects from across Pakistan will be part of the first cohort of projects for the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA), Pakistan. The CFA is part of the UK Government’s efforts to help Pakistan in accessing climate finance and meeting the priorities set out in its Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement. The UK is committed to assisting innovative and exciting low-carbon projects joining CFA Pakistan and building Pakistan’s climate resilience. This project will implement 150 MW of distributive solar energy plants at multiple commercial and industrial sites in Pakistan. The Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) is a £10.8 million technical assistance programme funded by International Climate Finance (ICF), through the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Share:On Monday, PM Shehbaz Sharif announced a special package of Rs 1,800 billion to promote the agriculture sector, which includes various measures such as the provision of free seeds and inexpensive loans among several others. The new financial package that has been announced has been increased by Rs 400 billion when compared to last year. There are a number of new measures in this package as well. Also, the government will also be providing assistance to landless farmers as Rs 5 billion has been allocated for markup on loans. However, this should not be a one-off package and assistance will have to be provided on a consistent basis as the slow-onset events following the floods (land degradation, droughts, increased temperatures, etc.)

Share:UAE’s International T20 League (ILT20) has announced that the Players’ registration portal, for UAE-based players, is now OPEN and LIVE for those (UAE players) interested in putting their names forward for consideration to participate in the inaugural League. The players who are based, and are currently playing in the UAE are invited to register their interest by visiting the League’s newly launched website, http://ilt20.ae, and express their interest by registering on http://register.ilt20.ae. Through the registration portal, interested players are strongly encouraged to review the selection criteria, which strictly adhere to Emirates Cricket playing and ICC residency guidelines. The registrations for UAE players to express their intent for consideration close soon, UAE time on Friday November 18, after which Franchises will review and engage in the selection process, and announce their full squads in early December (2022). Each Franchise squad will comprise a minimum of 4 UAE players.

Police directed to nab accused in Prophet’s Mosque incident
Share:RAWALPINDI - Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench Justice Abdul Aziz has directed the police to arrest within four days all the accused involved in violating the sanctity of the Masjid-e-Nabvi (PBUH) in Madinah during visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia. The court also expressed its resentment over the release of the convicted accused of violation of the sanctity of Masjid-e-Nabvi (SAW) from Saudi prisons by the prime minister of Pakistan. Police Station New Airport Fateh Jang had registered a case against Awami Muslim League president and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, his nephew MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique and others on charges of violating the sanctity of Masjid-e-Nabvi (SAW), chanting blasphemous slogans and harassing the volunteers and devotes in Masjid-e-Nabvi. While resuming the hearing into the petition, Justice Abdul Aziz directed the police and other law enforcement agencies to apprehend all the accused involved in violating the sanctity of Masjid-e-Nabvi (PBUH) during the visit of PM of Pakistan. He also questioned the investigation officer as to why the accused in the FIR were scooting free.

The transport mafia has continuously raised fares weekly on the pretext of rising oil prices or longer routes due to inundation. The floods provided them with another excuse to create shortages and almost double the prices of medicines and food items. Even though now most routes have been cleared and supply chains have been restored, the retailers and traders have refused to reduce prices.
