TTP’s lethal return
It only took a couple of days from the end of the ceasefire for the TTP to return to its old ways. The attacker used an explosive-laden vehicle to knock over a truck transporting policemen who were supposed to provide security for polio vaccinators, causing most of the injuries. Some reports suggested that the ‘unofficial’ attacks began after a few top TTP leaders based in Afghanistan were eliminated under mysterious circumstances. Reports suggest TTP emir Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud is limiting meetings with senior commanders to avoid being located by Pakistani security forces or intelligence agencies. Talking about the PTI’s plan to dissolve provincial assemblies of Punjab and KP, Rana Sanaullah said that the move would be undemocratic and unconstitutional. In the case of dissolution of two provincial assemblies, the government will see if the polling can be delayed till the general elections, the minister said.

IMF unsatisfied with revenue plan
The IMF has also questioned Pakistan’s claim that it can still generate Rs800 billion in revenue through the petroleum levy in current fiscal year, against the budget target of Rs855 billion. But the IMF has asked Pakistan to provide month-wise details of petroleum levy and consumption of petroleum products from July to June 2023, according to the sources. However, finance ministry officials were of the view that the petroleum levy collection and oil consumption would improve as business activities had started picking up pace in the post-flood period. The IMF is seeking additional revenue measures to cover shortfall in the Rs855 billion petroleum levy target. In order to seek clarity on the primary budget deficit, the IMF has asked the government to provide details of spending and revenue forecast by the four provinces, according to the sources.

4 dead in Quetta suicide blast targeting police
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Quetta, Azfar Mehesar said that a police truck, carrying policemen, was hit in the attack. A senior security official said on the condition of anonymity that initial police investigation suggested it was a suicide attack. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah also condemned the suicide attack. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo strongly condemned the blast and directed the administration to submit a report about the blast. In a statement issued after the blast, Bizenjo said the perpetrators of the blast would be brought to justice.

Govt aims to abolish riba in five years
While welcoming a decision of the Federal Shariat Court (FSC), Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the government aims at abolishing riba in the next five years. The FSC declared a number of laws of the country repugnant to the injunctions of Islam, as they have provided for charging or paying interest, which according to the findings of the FSC, fall within the definition of riba. The financial czar said that the government aimed at abolishing the prevailing interest-based system in the country. Pakistan reports 40 coronavirus cases, one death in 24 hours
Share:Pakistan has reported one death in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,575,226. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 30,632 on Tuesday. According to the latest figures by the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 40 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 across the country in the past 24 hours. Pakistan has conducted 6,828 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 40 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 0.

Some colleges have developed third-quarter traditions, usually marching band dependent, but this carries dangers of its own. There are four or five cheer formats, and they simply, as a group, somehow decide amongst themselves that this is what we’re yelling now. We rarely do this on an organic level in America, and when we do, there’s usually an organizing authority. The cheers and songs issue forth, and everyone, as a group, simply agrees to this. I do know we’ll able be quite, quite fine without bringing vuvuzelas into the equation.

Importance of social leadership, voluntarism among youth for nation-building stressed
The views were expressed by speakers at a ceremony organized by Youth Impact, a not-for-profit social development organization, at a local hotel, to showcase and acknowledge 75 peacebuilding projects undertaken by youth leaders it trained from across Pakistan this year. To prepare Pakistan’s youth to volunteer for critical social leadership and peacebuilding roles, Youth Impact had launched a campaign through ‘Camp Himalayas’, a program to train more than 400 young social leaders, who embarked on a journey of community service by executing multiple tasks of social development, inclusivity and nation-building in their local districts. They lauded the efforts of the young individuals, who chose to bring about social change and development by projecting the values of unity, respect, diversity and tolerance. Where young individuals would undergo the largest wilderness-based annual youth leadership moot of Pakistan, near khanpur, starting from November 30th and concluding on Dec 04, 2022. It aims to develop interpersonal and social skills in youth through extensive experiential learning.

Ceasefire Ends
Share:On Monday, the TTP called off the ceasefire agreed with the government in June and ordered its militants to stage attacks across the country. This is a concerning development but not a surprising one given the trajectory of the negotiations. As per reports, this decision was supposedly taken after the Pakistan military launched an operation in the Lakki Marwat district. Thus far, the Afghan Taliban government’s assurances have not helped the situation whatsoever. Now, we must adopt a harder stance and push the Afghan Taliban government to clamp down on the group.
