ISLAMABAD – Pakistan's armed forces, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs have wished a very happy Eid to the nation, according to the military's media wing. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), in a message today, said that the Eidul Adha gives us message of peace, unity, fraternity and selfless sacrifice for the humanity. Eidul Adha is being celebrated today with religious fervour to commemorate the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail (AS). The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for well-being of Ummah and progress, prosperity and security of the country. Ulema, in their Eid sermons, highlighted the significance of the philosophy of great sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail (AS).

Pakistan condemns desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden
Pakistan on Thursday strongly condemned the “despicable act” of public burning of the Holy Quran outside a mosque in Sweden on the occasion of Eidul Azha. Such wilful incitement to discrimination, hatred and violence cannot be justified under pretext of freedom of expression and protest, a Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement. “Under international law, states are duty bound to prohibit any advocacy of religious hatred, leading to incitement of violence. “We reiterate that the right to freedom of expression and opinion does not provide a license to stoke hatred and sabotage inter-faith harmony,” the statement said. It added Pakistan’s concerns about the incident are being conveyed to Sweden.

Pakistan vows to counter Indo-US defense ties
Pakistan feels that the deepening US-India defense ties is a direct threat to its national security. The statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) indicated that the Indian move was linked to its burgeoning defense ties with the US. The joint statement accused Pakistan of cross border terrorism and use of terrorist proxies. The US Deputy Chief of Mission was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a demarche was made to him regarding the US-India Joint Statement, issued on 22 June. Tareen IPP’s candidate for premiership
The newly formed Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) on Tuesday disclosed that Jahangir Tareen – once a close aide of PTI chief Imran Khan – would be their candidate for premiership in the next general election scheduled to be held in October this year. Expressing his views, Aleem maintained that his party would not go for seat adjustment with any political party in the election. Khan observed that Tareen would be their candidate for the premiership. The IPP was launched earlier this month by Tareen with a pledge to work for economic and social reforms. These lawmakers had voted in favour of PML-N’s Hamza Shehbaz for the chief minister election in April last year.
