Pakistan feels that the deepening US-India defense ties is a direct threat to its national security. The statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) indicated that the Indian move was linked to its burgeoning defense ties with the US. The joint statement accused Pakistan of cross border terrorism and use of terrorist proxies. The US Deputy Chief of Mission was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a demarche was made to him regarding the US-India Joint Statement, issued on 22 June.
