COLOMBO - Virat Kohli and KL Rahul’s unbeaten centuries, followed by Kuldeep Yadav’s five-fer led India to a huge 228-run victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s clash on Monday. Pakistan had a mountain to climb to book their spot in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 as they were set to chase a mammoth 357 against India. Out-of-form opener Fakhar Zaman remained the top-scorer for Pakistan amid their dismal batting show with a scratchy 27 off 50 balls. Besides them, none of their batters could make it to the double figures and Pakistan, consequently, could raise 128-8. He scored his 47th ODI century, second most ODI centuries and completed his 13000 ODI runs, becoming only the fifth player to do so.

Five Blackhawks Forwards Fighting For the Final Roster Spot(s)We’re getting closer to training camp opening for the Chicago Blackhawks, and I’ve been spending some time warming up with some thoughts on the Blackhawks’ roster construction heading into the new year. A quick look at the guys we’re putting on the NHL roster for the opener in Pittsburgh shows the Blackhawks having very few spots available. Connor Bedard will be in Pittsburgh as the one true rookie in the Blackhawks’ forward group. What complicates matters more for Reese is the additions of Perry and Foligno give the Blackhawks additional physicality, and that has been his primary function on the NHL roster. Keeping Katchouk’s size on the NHL roster would hurt Reese’s chances even further.

It’s worth noting that the army has already undertaken stringent accountability measures, purging elements detrimental to the unity between the public and the armed forces. Through various media outlets, both conventional and social, these elements have sought to tarnish the reputation of Pakistan’s armed forces. It continues to launch lethal attacks on Pakistan’s security forces and innocent citizens with impunity. Despite this provocation, Pakistan’s security forces have displayed considerable restraint due to strategic considerations, seeking to avoid an escalation of hostility with the Afghan government. Pakistan’s armed forces are spearheading efforts to prevent violent extremism by empowering local communities and their partners at the grassroots level.

Continuing his campaign against the potential postponement of the general elections, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari urged former coalition partners not to shy away from the polls. He warned them that if any party avoided the elections, another would step in to fill the void. He corroborated his assertion by giving the example of the MQM-P, which had boycotted the LG elections in Sindh. He added that it was not part of the PPP's training to run away from elections or to fear their outcome. Former Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah; PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro; and ex-provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon, Syed Nasir Shah and Jam Khan Shoro also expressed their views on the occasion.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. “This diplomatic triumph makes it all the more a pity that the government does not bring the same attitude of conciliation and co-operation to bear in its domestic dealings. The failure to invite the Leader of the Opposition (in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge), and indeed any Opposition MP, to any of the G20 events, receptions, dinner etc underscores my point. “No other democracy would snub its own Parliamentary colleagues on a global stage like this. A pity that the spirit of accommodation that prevailed at G20 is absent within Indian politics,” Tharoor wrote on X (formerly Twitter) referring to the G20 Summit while resharing his earlier post, complimenting India’s G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant for achieving consensus on the Delhi Declararation.

It has thus far won elections through a virulent racist, supremacist, extremist and divisive political agenda. Its domestic political strategy revolves around Hindutva which seeks to impose relentless Hindu hegemony in India. The BJP’s assertive, multi-pronged political strategy essentially aims to create a Hindu versus the rest contest. Further state elections in Mizoram, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana this year will put his political and electoral strategy to a severer test. As India’s state and national elections approach, the BJP’s options and political strategy will emerge clearer.

The Women’s Reservation Bill continues to languish in Parliament. (Photo: IANS/Qamar Sibtain)Deepika BhanNew Delhi, Sep 10 (IANS) The Women’s Reservation Bill continues to languish in Parliament. The struggle for it began soon after the Deve Gowda-led United Front government introduced the Bill in the Lok Sabha in September 1996. The Bill, however, was never brought up for debate in the Lok Sabha and died with the dissolution of the 15th Lok Sabha. He said, “Like Socrates drank poison to establish the truth, so will I to show the truth about the women’s reservation bill.” He demanded a quota-within-quota to accommodate the OBCs.

(photo:Twitter)Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 10 (ANI): Amid the persisting sound and fury over Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s rank against ‘Sanatan Dharma’, the BJP’s state unit said it will hold a protest in Chennai on Monday, demanding the dismissal of another minister, PK Sekar Babu in connection with the matter. The BJP claimed that Minister Sekar Babu, who heads the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, participated in the conference on Sanatan Dharma, where Udhayanidhi went on an explosive rant, thereby violating his oath of office. Similar protests will also be held across the state demanding that the offices of the Hindu Charitable Department be blocked in all the districts of Tamil Nadu. “From this, we can understand which party is in favour of a backward society,” the state BJP Chief said. Addressing a public rally in Theni, the BJP state president said, “It has been 29 months since the DMK came to power in Tamil Nadu.

“We will make collective decisions, carry everyone along and as you have never disappointed me, I will never disappoint you,” he said while addressing the party workers in Hyderabad. Sticking to the demands of timely elections, Bilawal, however, made it clear that he held his ground when it came to politics, the Constitution, and party policy, putting him at odds with his father's stance over elections. “It is being said that it is not possible to hold elections in 90 days, but I think general elections can be held within 60 days,” he contended. He reaffirmed his commitment to participating in the elections, asserting, "We are accustomed to facing challenges head-on, and we will not run from the elections. However, if some of our allies are considering running away from the elections, we will let them run because when you don't contest elections, someone else takes your seat."

The shift in any nation’s fate is driven by either the success in the system or its failure. That machinery is the American system. Twenty-six amendments have been made to the American constitution since it was drafted almost 336 years ago compared to twenty-seven amendments in our constitution which was drafted 51 years ago. We need to relook at our morals — the morals of our society. Not only do we deserve a change in our system which is not delivering but we also deserve the change in the status of women in our society.

Interestingly, a day earlier the foreign minister apparently exonerated the Afghan Taliban of their role when he termed the Chitral attack an "isolated incident" and noted that it was not "sanctioned" by the Afghan Taliban government. Foreign Minister Jilani said the Afghan government must not allow its soil to be used by banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan or any other group. The Foreign Minister said the SIFC meeting was briefed about Pakistan's the foreign policy. Jilani said that Pakistan also enjoys good relations with Saudi Arabia, Middle East, GCC, South Asian and Central Asian countries. The foreign minister said “steps are being taken to solve the problems of international investors”.
