Nonetheless, the BRICS countries’ assertive stance and their pursuit of greater representation and influence in global affairs signify a significant challenge to the American-led international order. This shift away from a unipolar world order led by the United States reflects the changing dynamics of global power.

A killing spree
Western countries, driven by their economic and geopolitical interests have often overlooked India’s persecution of minorities, curbs on media and even support for terrorist activities on foreign countries. Despite the diplomatic row between Canada and India regarding the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, another Sikh activist Sukhdool Singh was killed in Winnipeg, Canada. With geo-economic and geopolitical interests at stake, all member countries in these alliances are faced with a difficult situation. India, however, strengthened by such acts in its neighborhood, has unwittingly violated this order by killing a Canadian citizen. Canada is also being supported by the US and other Western countries in an effort to protect their value system.

Life disrupted in Karnataka as state shutdown due to water crisis

Members of farmer organizations were detained in the state’s capital of Bengaluru as protests were staged against the Cauvery water issue. The farmers were demanding the release of water should be stopped given the prevailing drought conditions in the state. The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee allowed Karnataka to release 3,000 cusecs (85 cubic meters/second) of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu from Sept. 28 to Oct. 15. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have staked claims to substantial portions of water to meet agricultural and irrigation needs.

Train service suspended due to bridge collapse
Railway authorities have temporarily suspended train services between Lahore and Faisalabad following the collapse of the railway bridge near Shahdara. The Lahore-Faisalabad railway track was closed for a period of 72 hours due to the pillar collapse. “The Railway Divisional Officer (CO Lahore) and Divisional Superintendent Lahore, among others, are present at the scene, working tirelessly to expedite the bridge’s restoration. The affected train services include Lahore to Faisalabad Marvi Express, Badar Express, and Ghouri Express. Similarly, changes have been made to the routes of Shalimar Express and Mianwali Express.

Govt’s cashless economy plans to help tune up SBP’s monetary policy
Waseem Shahid Malik, ex-member of the State Bank Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), said this while talking to WealthPK. In the past, the monetary policy outcomes remained insensitive to policy changes made by the State Bank, he said. He explained that in a cashless economy, most transactions are conducted electronically, leaving a clear digital trail of money flows. Likewise, during the period from July to April of FY 2023, there was a cumulative policy rate increase of 725 basis points. In order to promote a cashless economy, he suggested the government promote e-banking and financial literacy, and build cyber security infrastructure.

Trussville PD on scene of reported vehicle shooting

The Trussville Police Department received a call reporting the shooting at approximately 8:45 p.m.“The victim had pulled into the Shell station at 1120 N. Chalkville Road,” Trussville Police Lt. Clint Riner said. “We arrived on scene and we discovered two people had been struck by bullets. “During the course of the investigation, we determined that the shooting actually occurred outside the city limits of Trussville,” Riner said. “We’re still on scene here waiting to discuss the rest of the case with Birmingham (Police Department).”This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

European countries record hottest-ever September
European countries, including Austria, France, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland, have experienced record-breaking temperatures in September, adding to the growing list of extreme weather events fueled by climate change. This alarming trend comes in a year that experts predict will be the warmest in human history as the impacts of climate change continue to accelerate. In France, the average September temperature is expected to be around 21.5 degrees Celsius (70.7 degrees Fahrenheit), which is 3.5 to 3.6 degrees Celsius higher than the reference period from 1991 to 2020. Germany also experienced its hottest September on record, with temperatures almost 4 degrees Celsius higher than the 1961-1990 baseline, according to the German weather office DWD. Scientists attribute these rising temperatures to climate change driven by human activity, with global temperatures now approximately 1.2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

Radical ‘sexual education’ organization ACASH misled TCS about material at health fair, provided teens with information about pronouns, superintendent says
A booth at a Hewitt-Trussville High School (HTHS) health fair in April provided teens with information about choosing alternative pronouns and offered teachers and administrators free training. ACASH’s booth can be seen in photographs obtained by 1819 News from a student’s parent at the fair. At HTHS, ACASH provided various flyers to students, from information about AIDS and HIV to one titled “Contraception Knows No Gender.”The organization also provided a QR code for students to sign up for its newsletter. But Martin accused the organization of misrepresenting the material they intended to provide students when ACASH employees applied to be a part of the health fair. “Had [ACASH accurately represented the material it provided], we would’ve had a conversation around how that would’ve looked going forward,” Martin said.
