ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Tenure Track Association (APTTA) convened a crucial meeting in Islamabad, where they issued a stern call to the Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) to address the pressing challenges encountered by Tenure Track Teachers (TTS) across the country. Tenure Track Teachers, who play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s higher education system, voiced their frustration over the absence of any salary increase in the past two years. The discriminatory publication policy of the Higher Education Journal Ranking System (HJRS) with regard to Tenure Track Teachers was another point of contention. APTTA, representing the collective voice of Tenure Track Teachers, categorically rejected any form of discrimination in the proposed TTS Version 3 and the publication policy of HJRS. This letter underscored the urgency of addressing the issues raised in the meeting and called for swift action to alleviate the grievances of Tenure Track Teachers.

China once viewed the Indian Ocean as the “Far Sea” has enhanced its influence in East Asia and expanded its reach as far as Europe. This strategic manoeuvre, coupled with China’s strong presence in the South China Sea has left the Bay of Bengal as a focal point for Washington’s ambitions to assert dominance in the Indo-Pacific region. In contrast, China adopted a “soft power” strategy in East and South Asia with non-interference in domestic affairs and economic and infrastructural developments. Beijing forced New Delhi to devote time and resources to its neighbours rather than extend influence into East Asia. When Barack Obama questions India’s territorial integrity that means Washington is taking an assertive posture toward South Asia.

Historians have played a pivotal role in shaping the narratives that underpin the rise of nationalism. While historians’ contributions to the development of nationalism can be seen as both constructive and contentious, it is essential to acknowledge their significant impact. Historians contribute to the preservation and promotion of historical events and symbols that reinforce national identity. However, it is crucial to recognise that historians’ influence on nationalism is not without its drawbacks and controversies. German historians of the 19th Century for example gave fillip to nationalism of extreme intensity that eventually gave rise to national socialism.

The army’s involvement in these critical areas has evidently resonated with the public, solidifying its position as a trusted guardian of the nation. The breakdown of approval ratings by region further highlights the army’s popularity. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Punjab recorded the highest approval ratings at 91% and 90%, respectively, emphasising the institution’s widespread appeal. Sindh, with an 88% approval rating, and Balochistan, with 66%, also demonstrate substantial trust in the army’s performance. While the Pakistan Army basks in high approval ratings, other institutions and politicians face lower levels of public trust.
