Captain Jamil Abubakar, the son of a former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has defended the killing of blasphemers. Jamil, who is an experienced pilot and President of JMD Foundation, a non-profit organisation, said this in a tweet on Friday night. Constitutional lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, has faulted the withdrawal of resignation letters by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, AbubakarMalami, SAN and his Labour and Productivity counterpart, Dr Chris Ngige. Ngige said this in a statement he signed and issued to newsmen on Friday in Abuja. Malami was also reported to have rescinded his decision to contest for Kebbi State governorship in other for him to remain in office as Minister of Justice. Dr Olufunmilola Makanjuola, University College Hospital’s infection control team lead, said that pneumonia is an infection transmitted by respiratory droplets. Over 90 per cent of diseases like typhoid fever, diarrhoea and intestinal worms are contracted from dirty surfaces and unclean hands by individuals, including children. A clean hand is only achieved by washing with soap and water,” said Mrs Adebimpe Gbaja, UCH’s Infection control nurse.

The instant gratification of course propels them to keep going and presents an opportunity for parents, and guardians, to patiently nurture their child’s budding fluency in Igbo or their respective native language. Start with teaching them their core language in parallel with exposing them to the native food, clothing, and music.

Former President of the Senate and presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, Anyim Pius Anyim, has stated that he would choose a woman as his vice president, ahead of the upcoming 2023 elections. Students protesting against strike action of the Academic Staff Union Universities on Friday, in Ibadan, had a face-off with a team of the Nigerian Army who, in a bid to force their way through blockage by the students, almost ran them over with their vehicle. The video obtained by The PUNCH showed protesting students almost falling off as the military vehicle attempted to advance through them. One of the students, identified simply as Lolo, who narrated the incident to our correspondent, said, “the police had already blocked major roads because of the protest too, so we also barricaded our side, but the soldiers just came, suddenly came down with a gun. “He even cocked his gun as if he was going to shoot, and everybody was surprised. Before the presidential directive, the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, had tendered his resignation. On Thursday, the President extended the resignation order to other appointees, including Emefiele. He however said the decision to quit would be left to the President and Emefiele. However, instead of proceeding with the case of the CBN Governor, two lawyers stood up to announce appearances for their clients. No fewer than three soldiers have been arrested for collaborating with terrorists in Zamfara State. While one was arrested for selling ammunition at N100, 000 each, two others were nabbed for collaborating with terrorists. A military source told our correspondent that the soldier selling ammunition confessed to the offence after being arrested. The source said, “There was a case of missing ammunition at Forward Operations Base in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Two were collaborating with the bandits, and one was arrested for selling ammunition to them.

The army on Wednesday said troops of 93 Battalion have begun a search and rescue mission for the commander of the unit who went missing in action. The incident happened while the soldiers were responding to an attack on Tati community, in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, the army said. Mr Nwachukwu, a Brigadier General, said “while in pursuit of the bandits, troops fell into an ambush staged by the criminals. “Troops are currently in pursuit of the bandits and will leave no stone unturned in the ongoing search and rescue operations for the missing personnel. “The good people of Taraba State are enjoined to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement to security agencies,” the army authority appealed to Taraba residents.
