As part of her political development after independence, Nigeria adopted presidentialism from the political experience of the United States. Thus, when ideological political parties gain control of political power, there is already a blueprint of policies and actions to be taken on behalf of the citizens. And the laugh seems to be at the expense of me and all those who expect that the Nigerian political climate is ripe for an issue-based political engagement among the political parties. Nigeria’s nation-building and political development trajectory began most significantly with the best political motif. This was the type of ideological contestations around which the political parties, especially in the First Republic, were known for.

However, often these reports come well after the money has been promised or awarded, following audits or detailed reporting from journalists and others. During this election campaign, we're trying to monitor the distribution of election promises and monetary announcements in real time. We're also going to keep track of how much money goes towards marginal seats, and how this compares to what each seat would receive if the funding was shared equally. It's also likely the broader trends may change over time. And there will be errors as we go due to the sheer number of entries, despite each entry being put through at least three stages of checking before we include it in the final data.

Barely a week after the intervention that fixed aviation fuel at N480/litre, Jet-A1 scarcity has hit local airlines causing multiple flights delay. The Guardian learnt that more than half of scheduled flights were delayed for hours yesterday. The operating carriers have also warned the travelling public to brace up for massive disruptions in the days ahead. At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to reduce jet fuel from N700 to N480/litre, with fuel marketers demonised as the cause of surging cost.
