Police arrest native doctor, others over killing of inspector, recover python
The Imo State Police Command on Thursday said it arrested a native doctor and his gang members for allegedly killing a police inspector, Felicia Nwagbara. He said apart from killing the female cop, the gang had been collaborating with criminals and kidnappers who had been attacking the state. Abattam identified the suspects as Casmire Mgbugha, 53; Hycent Chimezie, 30; Hycent, 28; Hycent Ifesinachi, 26; Hycent Chimobi, 23; Chukwuemeka Wisdom, 22; and Nnadike Clifford, 72. “Amazingly, while coming out of the terror camp, one of the suspects, Hycent Chimezie, for the second time, attempted escaping and was maimed in the leg. “In the course of interrogation, the suspects confessed to have murdered late Inspector Felicia Nwagbara, who was the second wife of one of the suspects — Casmire Mgbugba.

World Bank to fund $30bn projects in Nigeria, others
The World Bank has said it is set to disburse a total of $30bn to fund existing and new projects in Nigeria and other countries as part of a global response to combat the ongoing food security crisis. According to the bank, it is working with countries on a $12bn new projects fund for the next 15 months. It said the projects are expected to support agriculture, social protection to cushion the effects of higher food prices, and water and irrigation projects. The global bank disclosed this on Wednesday when it announced how it plans to be part of a comprehensive, global response to the ongoing food security crisis. It stated that it intends to roll out this fund in existing and new projects in agriculture, nutrition, social protection, water, and irrigation.

Hemp seller slits girlfriend’s throat over slippers, dumps corpse
A hemp seller, identified simply as Toba, has allegedly slit the throat of his girlfriend, Tunrayo Odubanjo, and dumped her corpse in a bush in Kara-Kekere community, Ogunrun, Mowe, in the Obafemi Owode area of Ogun State. A resident, who gave her name simply as Peju, said when Odubanjo returned, he attacked her for wearing his slippers. She asked him for the slippers and Toba said he threw them into the bush. He moved into his house in the community two days ago; he is popular for selling Indian hemp,” Qudus said. Toba was seen lying naked beside the corpse of his girlfriend in one of the pictures seen by our correspondent.
