President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to as a matter of urgency, order a thorough investigation into the entire Police Constable recruitment exercise and punish whoever is found wanting. The call is coming as the controversy over the recruitment of Constables into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) between the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Police Service Commission (PSC) over alleged corruption in the exercise rages on. The call was made by a group known as North-East Youth and Elders Peoples Forum (NEYEPF) which addressed a press conference in Bauchi on Sunday. According to him, “Kayode Egbetokun did the right thing by rejecting the result of the recruitment exercise which was marred by alleged corruption and irregularities.”The group, therefore, expressed its backing for the IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun, over the alarm he raised concerning the whole exercise and was commended for raising the alarm to ensure that only qualified people were recruited into the Force. The findings underscore the importance of robust password management, as the majority of reviewed passwords were easily compromised using smart guessing algorithms. “The majority of the examined passwords (57 per cent) contain a word from the dictionary, which significantly reduces the passwords’ strength. Standard passwords: “password”, “qwerty12345”, “admin”, “12345”, “team,” the report highlighted. “Given that, the most dependable solution is to generate a completely random password using modern and reliable password managers. Such apps as Kaspersky Password Manager can securely store large volumes of data, providing comprehensive and robust protection for user information,” commented Novikova.

But I am, right now, just sick and tired of being sick and tired. Meanwhile, Kano State governor Abba Yusuf (who I used to like)has reverted to his default destructive vengeance that I advised him against in previous columns. He has reportedly sent bulldozers to tear down the palace where the “federal” emir lives. Well, the law is clearly on the side of the Kano State government on the controversy regarding who is the emir of Kano. So, the Kano State government just needs a little more maturity to let the judicial process play itself out.

The roadmap was unveiled during a recent executive breakfast session in Lagos, where the book was launched. Ahmad, presented the book, emphasising the need for directors to internalise the concept of sustainability and its implementation in their organizations. According to Ajogwu, inculcating sustainability into the operations of companies necessitates customised approaches, as there is no universal solution for organizations.

A Chinese airline on Saturday completed the country’s first commercial flight using biofuel, made from waste cooking oil, as the government seeks to promote greater environmental sustainability. A Hainan Airlines flight from commercial hub Shanghai to Beijing used biofuel supplied by China National Aviation Fuel company and energy giant Sinopec, according to a statement from US aircraft giant Boeing. The Boeing 737 plane used a 50-50 mix of conventional jet fuel and biofuel made from “waste cooking oil collected from restaurants in China,” it said. Used cooking oil, called “gutter oil” in Chinese, has been the target of media exposes about how the waste product is sometimes illegally reused for human consumption. Sinopec, which was criticised in the Chinese environmental documentary “Under the Dome”, said waste oil could be put to better use.

Vladimir Putin has warned South Korea it would be making “a big mistake” if it arms Ukraine in the war against Russia. Moscow “will… [make] decisions which are unlikely to please the current leadership of South Korea” if Seoul decides to supply arms to Kyiv, Putin told reporters on Thursday. Putin also warned that Moscow is willing to arm Pyongyang if the US and its allies continue supplying Ukraine with weapons. I said, including in Pyongyang, that we then reserve the right to supply weapons to other regions of the world,” Putin said. Following Putin’s remarks, South Korea’s presidential office said on Friday it would consider “various options” in supplying arms to Ukraine and its stance will “depend on how Russia approaches this issue”.

The celebration of Eid-el-Kabir festival has come and gone, but the memory lingers on. The joy of the great annual feast of the faithful has come and gone, but the memory of the spiritual melody lingers on. The gentle show of gratitude to Allah on His kindness and favour on the trial of piety has come and gone, but the memory lingers on. Indeed, the memory that lingers on is embedded in the lessons of the celebration, which goes beyond the killing of goats, sheep, rams, cows, camels and others. May Allah grant us true faith in Him and make us learn from the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir (Ameen).

The case, Moore v US, put into question what assets are considered taxable income. Some experts say the case was used as a vehicle to give the supreme court an opportunity to weigh in on a hypothetical billionaire’s tax, which would raise similar questions on what assets can be taxed. “Right-wing billionaires hoped an obscure legal case would blow up the tax code to avoid paying what they owe, but this effort failed at the supreme court. The case focused on Charles and Kathleen Moore, a couple from Washington state who owned a small stake in an India-based company that sells affordable farm equipment in India. The supreme court was tasked with deciding whether the Moores’ investment in the company was considered income.

It is good to hear from President Muhammadu Buhari’s mouth that the war against corruption is not dead. It is alive and kicking. Corruption, by whatever name you choose to call it, is also very much alive and kicking. In more enlightened societies, those who seek public office need tons and tons of money to do marketing and media campaign to sell themselves to the electorate. His high moral values risk being compromised by those who feel gravely threatened by the War Against Corruption.

He’s also a victim of gun violence himself, having been shot in the throat at age 17. He calls for “gun violence prevention”, never “gun control”. He’s testified on gun violence multiple times in front of Congress and was invited to the State of the Union address by the House gun violence prevention taskforce. He rallied a coalition of gun violence groups together behind the effort and, after three years pushing the administration, got the victory last fall. “How do we combat all the different things we are facing, whether it’s gun violence, or racism, or immigration, or reproductive rights – it’s so critical.

A civilian was killed Tuesday in Indian Kashmir as Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy fire along their border in the south of the disputed territory, police said. The Pakistan side soon fired heavy weapons which is being retaliated (by Indian troops),” the official said. India’s defence minister told parliament recently that Pakistan had violated the ceasefire over 1,000 times since the agreement, while Pakistan regularly registers complaints of violations by India to a UN mission which monitors the border. The Himalayan region of Kashmir has been divided between India and Pakistan, but claimed in full by both, since the two countries gained independence from Britain in 1947. Since 1989 several rebel groups have been fighting hundreds of thousands of Indian forces deployed in the region, seeking independence or a merger of the territory with Pakistan.
