N6bn fraud: Court extends Mompha’s plea bargain until June 10
Justice Mojisola Dada of the Ikeja Special Offences Court, Lagos on Thursday granted the extension of plea bargain until June 10 to take final report in the case of N6bn money laundering against social media celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha. Justice Dada gave the date after defence and prosecution counsel prayed for extension of time. The defendant is charged with eight-count bordering on conspiracy to launder money obtained through unlawful activities, and laundering of money obtained through unlawful activities. During the court sitting, the defence counsel, Kolawole Salami, who held brief for Gboyega Oyewole SAN, informed the court that discussions were ongoing on plea bargain with EFCC. Salami prayed the court for extension of time for both parties to reach a conclusion.

Elon Musk wants to cut 10% of Tesla jobs

Negative sentiments persistent at NGX as ASI goes 0.3% lower
At the end of trading activities at the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), on Thursday, the All-Share index further declined by 0.30 per cent to close at 52,815.78 basis points amid sustained bearish sentiment. Consequently, the Month-to-Date loss printed -0.3 per cent, while the Year-to-Date return moderated to +23.7 per cent. As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was negative as 25 tickers lost relative to 11 gainers. Nevertheless, the sub-sector gauges were largely negative, the NGX Banking, the NGX Insurance, the NGX Consumer Goods, NGX Oil/Gas and the NGX Industrial indices declined by 0.97 per cent, 0.60 per cent, 1.76 per cent, 0.07 per cent and 0.02 per cent respectively. Canada accuses Chinese air force of nearly causing collisions
Canada’s military has accused Chinese air force pilots of unprofessional and risky behaviour during recent encounters with Canadian planes in international airspace. The Canadian armed forces said on Wednesday that the People’s Liberation Army air force “did not adhere to international air safety norms” on several occasions. And at times Chinese planes tried to divert Canadian aircraft from their flight path and flew so close that the crew was “very clearly visible”. US intelligence has said that North Korea appears to be preparing its first nuclear test since 2017. In June 2019, two Canadian naval vessels were “buzzed” by Chinese fighter jets when they sailed through the East China Sea.
