Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) could declare force majeure on oil exports from several key export terminals in the Gulf of Sirte amid continued blockades and closures of oil-producing and export infrastructure, the corporation said on Monday as Libya’s political crisis continues. NOC is currently considering declaring force majeure within the next 72 hours unless production and shipment of oil resume in the Gulf of Sirte, Libya’s state-owned oil company said in a statement. The Gulf of Sirte hosts the oil export terminals Zueitina, Brega, Ras Lanuf, and Es Sider. The possible force majeure would come after weeks of protests and closures amid the new rift in Libya’s political class over who should be governing the country. Amid the political instability, Libyan oil production is also unstable, and shutdowns of exports could occur at any time, further tightening the global oil market, which is already tight on supply.

Gashora, Rwanda, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2022 ) :Ismail Hmdan Banaga says he's had a "frustrating and fruitless" time waiting in vain in Rwanda for his Canadian asylum request to be approved. Their fate has come under the spotlight since Britain hatched a controversal deal with Rwanda in April to deport unwanted asylum seekers to the East African country. "He said he stayed in Libya for three years before arriving in Rwanda where he said he was initially greeted with kindness. "It has been a year now in Rwanda and am not sure if I will get asylum or not. If it turns out that they abandoned me, then returning to Libya is more merciful than staying here in Rwanda under this humiliation."

This month, as the latest political stalemate festered, one of Libya's two rival governments set up its headquarters in Sirte, a central coastal city near where the frontline solidified after the last major conflict paused in 2020. It was damaged first in 2011 and then in the 2016 fighting to evict Islamic State, when it came under the Tripoli government. At the 600 Block, Omar's neighbour Abdulkarim al-Shahomi, 57, had little hope that the latest political manoeuvring would improve his life. The subsidised supermarket where Shahomi used to buy food closed after the revolution along with others like it across Libya. It still stands, empty, near the roundabout where Islamic State once staged public executions.

A group of vandals have broken into the General Services Company of Benghazi and tampered with its furniture and documents, the director of the service company, Tariq Al-Badri, has said. According to Badri, the group acted upon the instructions of Ali Al-Qatrani, deputy PM in the parallel government backed by the east-based Parliament. In a press statement, the service company's head said the group busted the building with the support of the Benghazi Joint Security Chamber. Al-Qatrani assigned a person loyal to him to head Benghazi's service company, Badri says, considering it an interference and a clear violation of the law. The law says the appointment of a new director of the General Services Company must be issued by the Minister of Local Government, Badri insists.
