“All of the rooms face the sea, with the exception of the first-floor bathroom,” says the woman of the house. An English ballerina bought it from the engineer, and after she passed away, the current owners purchased it in 2010. The first floor wasn’t open plan when the current owners bought it, but they made some layout changes for the better. We changed it to three bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite,” the couple say. The 215 sq m two-storey home is set on a generous 1.2 acres of south and west facing landscaped gardens which they couple say was “very well maintained” when they moved in.

It was in the dark underworld that marked the beginning of the Cold War that the black-marketeer Harry Lime operated. But the Berlin I know best is the ‘Old Berlin’ of the 1980’s Cold War. But the Berlin I know best is the ‘Old Berlin’ of the 1980’s Cold War.' The Wall was a clear barrier but underground, to get from one side of West Berlin to another, lines went under East Berlin. When the international Ostende-Moscow train arrived at the opposite platform, ‘in’ East Berlin, rifle-toting soldiers rattled down steps and lined up with their backs to the West Berlin platform.

In the Republic the population fell in every decade post-independence until the 1970s. Not so well known or analysed is the repopulation of the Republic which has gone on over the last 50 years. South Korea sustains a population 10 times that of the State on roughly the land area. Planning for the State’s rising population will be the biggest issue facing this and future Irish governments. The doom loop of population loss has been replaced by the virtuous circle of population increase.

Ploughing savers' money into British infrastructure and private equity risks undermining the primary role of pensions, a major mutual insurer has warned. Barry O'Dwyer, chief executive of Royal London, said he is 'nervous' about Labour's proposal to shake-up the pensions industry. The Pension Schemes Bill is seeking to boost returns for millions of retired people by encouraging schemes to put more money into British infrastructure and private companies. 'With an estimated £3trillion in UK pensions, it is understandable pensions are viewed as able to play a powerful role in supporting UK economic growth. However, the primary role of pensions is to fund customers' retirement.'

Cardozo said that when late Mahonar Parrikar became the Chief Minister, he showed his concern towards Konkani in Roman script and increased the amount of annual grants to the DKA. Pattern of assistance remained the same i.e. After the demise of Parrikar, the amount of annual grant to DKA remained the same while the pattern of assistance had been changed to the disadvantage of DKA. This matter had been discussed with the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant some time back and the decision at his level was awaited, Cardozo said.

The current warm spell is expected to break down as patches of rain and drizzle will affect some parts of the country with heavy rain moving across the west of the country later this morning. The outlook for Sunday is much worse, with "heavy and persistent" rain forecast. For bank holiday Monday, the national forecaster said: "It'll be mostly cloudy at first on Monday, with further spells of heavy possibly thundery rain, especially across the midlands, east and southeast. "However the rain may linger in parts of the east and south for much, if not all of the day.
