As of December 16, the World Health Organisation (WHO) reported 7,344 cases of Covid-19 JN.1 subvariant from 41 countries. With this, the total count of coronavirus cases in India since its outbreak in January 2020 has reached 4,50,15,896. Both the central and state governments are keeping a close watch on the new Omicron Subvariant JN.1. As of December 16, the World Health Organisation (WHO) reported 7,344 cases of Covid-19 JN.1 subvariant from 41 countries, whereas 145 cases of JN.1 subvariant were reported in India till December 28, as per official sources. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently classified JN.1 as a variant of interest, distinct from its parent lineage BA.2.86.

As Ayodhya prepares for the upcoming grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir, a video that’s circulating on social media purports to show the state of sanitation arrangements in the temple complex. Toilet setup for the Ayodhya Ram temple inauguration day in Uttar Pradesh?" Further searches took us to a YouTube video stating that it was from the Swarved Temple in Varanasi. While we couldn't ascertain if the viral video showed under-constructed or makeshift toilets, it is nonetheless clear that the video is not from the Ayodhya Ram Mandir but from the Swarved Temple in Varanasi.

उत्तरी क्षेत्रों से आ ठंड भरी हवाओं ने भरी ठंड घोल दी है। बुधवार को लोग ठंड से कांपते हुए नजर आए। तो वहीं गुरुवार की सुबह से बूंदाबांदी शुरू हो गई। मौसम विशेषज्ञों ने बताया कि चार से पांच तक इसी तरह का मौसम बना रहेगा और लोगों को हवाओं के साथ कड़ाके की ठंड का सामना करना होगा। वैज्ञानिकों की मानें तो पश्चिमी विक्षोभ के चलते एक-दो दिन में मावठे की बारिश होने की उम्मीद है।रीवा जिले में गुरुवार की सुबह से ही मौसम में बदलाव देखने को मिला। सुबह उठते ही हल्की बूंदाबांदी शुरू हो गई। ठंडी हवाओं ने सिहरन को बढ़ा दिया है। इस दरमियान अधिकतम तापमान जहां 23.4 डिग्री सेल्सियस रहा वहीं न्यूनतम तापमान 11.8 डिग्री सेल्सियस रिकॉर्ड हुआ। मौसम केन्द्र से प्राप्त जानकारी के मुताबिक पिछले 48 घंटों के दौरान मौसम शुष्क हो गया है। क्योंकि पश्चिमी विक्षोभ और इससे प्रेरित चक्रवाती हवाओं के क्षेत्र कमजोर हो गए हैं। वहीं पश्चिमी विक्षोभ के विघटन की वजह से बर्फीली उत्तर पश्चिमी हवाएं मैदानी इलाकों में चल रही हैं, जिसकी वजह से दिन व रात के तापमान में भारी गिरावट आई है। तापमान में यह गिरावट हिमपात से भरे हिमालय से बफीर्ली ठंडी हवाओं की वजह से आई है।कड़ाके की ठंड से हलाकान रहे लोगइन दिनों कड़ाके की ठंड से हर कोई हलाकान है हालांकि बादलों के आने से गलन भरी ठंड से कुछ राहत मिली है लेकिन सर्द हवा चलने के कारण दिन में भी लोग गर्म कपड़े पहनने के बाद भी राहत महसूस नहीं कर पा रहे है। बुधवार को जिले के अधिकतम तापमान में गिरावट दर्ज की गई है और अधिकतम तापमान 23.4 डिग्री रिकॉर्ड किया गया जबकि न्यूनतम तापमान 11.8 डिग्री के लगभग बना हुआ है।फसलों पर पड़ेगा प्रभावबदला हुआ मौसम में बारिश फसलों के लिए तो लाभकारी होगा। जबकि ओला-पाला पड़ने पर फसले प्रभावित होगी। यही वजह है कि किसान इन दिनों इस मौसम को देखते ही चिंतित हैं किसानों ने बताया कि बारिश- बादल के बीच ओले गिरने की संभावना भी बनती है तथा पाला लगने से फसलें खराब होती है। ऐसे में ओला और पाला को लेकर किसानों की चिंता बढ़ती जा रही है। दोनों ही स्थितियों में फसलें खराब होगी

Gujarat GST authority upholds Rs 173.9 cr tax demand against Maruti Suzuki’s arm
Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said the Gujarat GST authority has upheld the tax demand of Rs 173.9 crore along with a penalty of Rs 17.4 crore against its arm Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt Ltd and the subsidiary company will move the first appellate authority to challenge the order. The country’s largest passenger car manufacturer in an exchange filing said that its arm Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt Ltd has received an adjudication order dated December 21, 2023, from the Gujarat GST authority upholding demand of Rs 173.9 crore along with a penalty of Rs 17.4 crore related to tax liability under reverse charge basis on certain services. The adjudication order issued by Gujarat GST Department is for the period July 2017 to August 2022, Maruti Suzuki India said. Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) had already paid the tax amount of Rs 173.9 crore before the issuance of show cause notice, it added. Maruti Suzuki shares declined by 1.19 per cent to Rs 10,075.45 on Wednesday.

Editorial. SC takes benign view of SEBI’s Adani probe
Professing complete faith in the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the Supreme Court has neatly passed the Adani-Hindenburg case into the stock market regulator’s hands. This faith in the regulator is born out of the Justice AM Sapre committee’s report which found no evidence of regulatory failure by SEBI in handling the case. In August 2023, SEBI submitted a status report in which it stated that out of 24 investigations, 22 are complete and two are in the interim stage. It is noteworthy that the Court did not inquire into SEBI’s inability to complete the two pending investigations even after four months. The order to probe whether Hindenburg Research has violated any law in publishing the report on Adani and to take action against it, appears needless.

"With a lot of that cash coming from banking accounts, it's the money that people will use to meet their regular expenses. "To that point, Federated Hermes's Cunningham thinks money-market funds will stay competitive even as the Fed embarks on rate cuts to bring monetary policy out of restrictive territory. It's unlikely that the Fed's normalization process will bring interest rates back to zero, but rather to between 3% and 4%, she said. That level will keep retail investors engaged instead of returning their deposits to banks.

How Adani built a $15 billion bulwark against Hindenburg attack
The Supreme Court today directed the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to complete its probe into the remaining two cases of alleged violations by the Adani companies within three months. The Hindenburg allegations and relentless badgering from various opposition parties had rendered Adani an untouchable in the world of finance. In total, the Adani Group raised over $5 billion in equity and a double of that in debt in the past year, PTI has reported. Adani Green Energy and Adani Transmission may tap the overseas bond market and issue Regulation-S and Regulation-D bonds in 2024. Adani Green Energy will need to raise $350 million of notes to refinance existing debt that will mature in December 2024, Singh said.
