Tamilnadu officials collect details from powerloom weavers on GST refund
Officials from the Tamil Nadu government have collected details from powerloom weavers in Erode and nearby areas regarding GST refund dues. Following a report in The Hindu in this regard recently, the officials contacted the weavers and took the details. The field officials also sought data from the weavers on the GST paid and the refund pending. There are hundreds of powerloom weavers who are hit in the State because of this issue. The powerloom weavers who were weaving manmade fibre fabric paid higher GST for 13 months in 2017-2018 due to inverted duty structure.

Recognitions galoreOn the eve of World Environment Day (June 5), the ‘State of India’s Environment 2023’ report by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) ranked Telangana at the top in terms of overall environmental performance. An expert committee, led by Dr Atul Narayana Vaidya, Director of the National Environmental Engineering Research Institution (NEERI) in Nagpur, was set up to investigate the matter. As per the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB), there are 185 lakes in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. The crash occurred Thursday just west of Petit Nevis island near Bequia as the plane headed for nearby St. Lucia, police said in a statement. They identified the daughters as Madita Klepser, 10, and Annik Klepser, 12, adding that the pilot, Robert Sachs, also died. Authorities said fishermen and divers in the area went to the crash site to help as the St. Vincent and Grenadines Coast Guard headed to the area. He appeared throughout season two of the 1990s series Saved by the Bell: The New Class, playing a Swiss transfer student named Brian Keller.

African crude makes up for fall in Russian imports
Kuwait inched ahead of the US as the fifth largest supplier to India with a 4% share in December, up from 3.4% in November. The share of the US fell to 3.6% in December from 4% in the previous month.India's imports of Russian crude in December were the lowest in 11 months, with the largest declines from Urals and Sokol crude, according to Vortexa. "Lower Russian Urals arrivals into India are partially caused by disruptions in Russian Black Sea port loading operations due to bad weather conditions in November," said Serena Huang, an analyst at Vortexa. Some Russian oil tankers haven't been able to discharge at Indian ports probably due to G7 sanctions that bar western ships from carrying Russian oil priced above $60 per barrel. Urals, currently selling below $60 per barrel, has been the mainstay of India's Russian oil imports.
