Mr. Sullivan delivered the warnings during a series of interviews with TV news shows after the U.S. and Britain on Saturday struck 36 Houthi targets in Yemen. The U.S. fired again at Houthi targets on Sunday. “We cannot rule out that there will be future attacks from Iranian-backed militias in Iraq and Syria or from the Houthis,” Mr. Sullivan said. “These attacks will not discourage Yemeni forces and the nation from maintaining their support for Palestinians in the face of the Zionist occupation and crimes,” Houthi military spokesman Brig. The Saviz is now in the Indian Ocean near where the U.S. alleges Iranian drone attacks recently have targeted shipping.

The much-awaited Goods and Services Tax (GST) Appellate Tribunals, intended to resolve taxpayer disputes under the six-and-a-half years old indirect tax regime, may begin operations around July or August, Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra told The Hindu in an interview on Saturday. Introduced on July 1, 2017, the GST framework included provisions to constitute Appellate Tribunals as the second appellate authority for hearing appeals against the orders passed by the Appellate Authority under the Central and State GST laws. The Central GST law was amended in July to enable the creation of appellate tribunals, and the Finance Ministry notified the setting up of 31 tribunals across 28 States and eight Union Territories in mid-September. At the time, officials believed that the first set of tribunals would become operational by December 2023 or January 2024. Taxpayers can withdraw their GST-related cases filed in High Courts and the Supreme Court and lodge them with the upcoming GST appellate tribunals so as to speed up their outcomes, the minister had advised.

Menstrual taboos are one such issue that has been exaggeratedly linked to Hindu Dharma. This forceful correlation established between the existence of menstrual taboos in Bharatiya society and the tenets of Hindu Dharma makes no sense and evades logic. You routinely get to see such articles where Hindu Dharma is said to consider menstruating women impure and dirty. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/menstruating-women-cooking-food-for-husbands-will-be-reborn-as-dogs-says/article30852624.eceAn article published recently by CBC News Canada also perpetuates the stereotype of Hindu Dharma propagating menstrual taboos. It’s high time woke media gets this point and stops portraying Hindu Dharma as some kind of originator of all menstrual taboos.

However, the government claims India’s current tax-to-GDP ratio is much better than many countries with similar per capita income. Such a high ratio is possible only when India achieves per capita income levels of the developed world. Also, the European level of tax-to-GDP ratio punishes the economy through high taxes and India should be careful while setting such benchmarks. However, higher tax rates, multiple levels of taxes, and lower threshold for taxing incomes can also result in higher tax/GDP ratio. For a country with a high young population, India needs businesses to flourish for generating employment, and high consumption for businesses to flourish.

Speaking on ‘Can Art Create Change?’ at the Global Science Festival Kerala (GSFK) she said that art can change the way humans react to situations, but art doesn’t always create a positive impact. While saying that it is a collective responsibility of the society to defend propaganda films, she added that she is against banning films as she believes in the freedom of expression. What is required is to create a discerning audience which is a collective responsibility,” she said. Art in itself does not always create a positive change, it depends on time. Real art is made when the mind and heart are both touched by that.
