Congress promises legal guarantee on MSP, warns Centre farmers' march 'just the beginning'
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Modi government of crushing the voice of farmers after "failing" to fulfil the promises made to them over 10 years. "If Congress comes to power at the Centre (after the Lok Sabha polls), it will ensure legal guarantee to MSP in the interest of farmers. It is our first guarantee," Kharge said during Gandhi's `Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Ambikapur district of Chhattisgarh,. He said the farmers were only demanding the implementation of the promises made to them two years ago during their earlier agitation like a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) and waiving debts. "Our only demand is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should directly talk to the farmers and provide them 'nyay' (justice)," he said, adding that this is what Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are fighting for.

Rejoin talks, vandalism no answer to demands: Union minister Anurag Thakur to farmers
Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday urged the protesting farmers to rejoin talks with the government on their demands and asserted that violence and vandalism were not the answer to their problems. Speaking to reporters here, Thakur said the government had accepted some demands of the farmers' organisations, who were marching towards the national capital in huge numbers. But issues such as India walking out of the World Trade Organisation and cancellation of free trade agreements would require wider consultations, he said. Thakur asked.He said the government had proposed setting up of the committee during the talks with farmers' organisations on Monday. Thakur said.

Horseshoe crabs, living fossils of the sea, draw endangered species petition
Classified not as true crabs but as marine arthropods most closely related to spiders and scorpions, horseshoe crabs are among the oldest living creatures on Earth, with fossils of their ancestors dating back some 450 million years. Such a listing would generally make it unlawful to harm or kill a horseshoe crab without a special permit. The petition cites numerous threats to the American horseshoe crab, one of four living species of the animal, stemming from human activities. Harlan said non-industry research shows about 30% of horseshoe crabs collected for blood extraction die in the process. Mass die-offs have been observed in the past three years, with NOAA in 2023 ranking the horseshoe crab's overall vulnerability to climate change as "very high," the petition said.

भोपाल (राज्य ब्यूरो)। ऊर्जा मंत्री प्रद्युम्न सिंह तोमर ने कहा कि विद्युत मंडल पेंशनर्स की समस्याओं पर विचार कर सकारात्मक निर्णय लिया जाएगा। उन्होंने मध्य प्रदेश विद्युत मंडल पेंशनर एसोसिएशन के पदाधिकारियों के साथ बैठक में यह बात कही। तोमर ने कहा कि दिए गए ज्ञापन के एक-एक बिंदु पर चर्चा कर यथोचित निर्णय लिया जाएगा।पेंशनर एसोसिएशन के पदाधिकारियों ने कहा कि महंगाई राहत के लिए छत्तीसगढ़ और मध्य प्रदेश की सहमति की अनिवार्यता को खत्म किया जाए। तीस जून को सेवानिवृत्त कर्मचारियों को एक अतिरिक्त वेतन वृद्धि दी जाए। एक तारीख को पेंशन मिलना सुनिश्चित किया जाए। हर तीन माह में विद्युत वितरण कंपनियों के एमडी के साथ पेंशनर की बैठक आयोजित की जाए। स्वास्थ समूह बीमा योजना लागू की जाए। बैठक में सचिव ऊर्जा रघुराज राजेंद्र एवं पेंशन एसोसिएशन के पदाधिकारी उपस्थित थे।

Oracle India records 50% y-o-y growth in cloud consumption in Q2
Technology major Oracle has recorded 50 per cent y-o-y growth in cloud consumption in Q2FY24, as adoption across sectors grows in the region, said top company executives. Under its cloud infrastructure business (OCI), the Cloud@Customer offering grew 380 per cent y-o-y in Q2FY24, and the SMB business witnessed over 70 per cent y-o-y consistent growth in consumption for the past three years. are leveraging the Oracle cloud, giving the company diverse growth vectors. Within SaaS, ERP contributed 34 per cent growth in H1 FY24 y-o-y. India faces higher apple and orange prices due to Red Sea conflict
The ongoing threat of Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping has forced shipping lines to reroute their vessels via the South African coast. With domestic produce already suffering from extreme weather, the cost of these fruits is set to rise. This longer route has increased transport costs by $2,000-3,000 per vessel carrying 21 tonnes of apple, resulting in a higher landed cost. “If you do the maths, the cost of apples is now Rs 200-220/kg, higher by Rs 18-20/kg as compared to last year,” Karvat explained. He also anticipates a rise in orange prices, with oranges from Egypt meeting the domestic need due to quality issues with local produce.

Bandhan Bank stock crashes 7.2% on forensic audit reports
Shares of Bandhan Bank tumbled 7.21 per cent at ₹200.65 on the BSE on businessline reports that some of its loans had come under forensic audit. On Sunday, businessline reported that “with doubts of evergreening of loans and fictitious loan accounts looming over certain portfolios covered under credit guarantee schemes, a forensic audit initiated by National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company (NCGTC) is currently ongoing at Bandhan Bank. This covers ₹23,300 crore of loans lent under credit guarantee schemes”Among other scrutiny processes, documents accessed by businessline, revealed that the auditor is required to “perform data analytics on the portfolio to identify window-dressing or evergreening of loans.”During the day, the stock hit a low of ₹197.85, which is slightly above its 52-week low of ₹182.20 that it had hit during March 2023. The stock’s 52-week high is ₹272.
