Providence India, an arm of the US-based Providence, has opened a global healthcare engineering, operations and innovation centre here. Providence President and Chief Executive Officer Rod Hochman has said that the company would double the workforce to 3,500 from about 1,400 now by the end of 2025. Providence India was set up three years ago by the US-based not-for-profit entity to boost its digital transformation journey through a global capability model. Relating the 160-year-old company’s digital transformation journey over the last eight years, Rod said the company was building cyber security capabilities in order to protect the sensitive data. Several Indians who worked as support staff to the Russian army were discharged following India's demand, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Monday. It said India remains committed, as a matter of "top priority", to actively pursuing with the Russian authorities all the relevant cases of Indian nationals for an early discharge from the Russian army. "We have seen some inaccurate reports in the media regarding Indians with the Russian army seeking help for discharge," the MEA said in a statement. "We urge all Indian nationals to exercise due caution and stay away from this conflict," he had said. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi had earlier urged the MEA to rescue the Indians.

The National Statistical Office conducts the household consumer expenditure survey every five years. The share of processed food and beverages has gone up nearly 2 percentage points both in rural and urban areas. Urban spending fell 3.5 percentage points compared with the 2011-12 data. "Given the new weights in rural consumption and assuming a 10% inflation in food and 5% inflation in non-food items, the inflation as per new weights would be 30-40 bps (basis points) lower than 2011-12 weights," said Paras Jasrai, senior analyst, India Ratings and Research.
