NIA arrests Baljeet Singh, Canada-based wanted Khalistani terrorist’s key aide
The NIA has arrested a key aide of Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa in a major terror network case involving the supply of deadly weapons for extortion from businessmen among others, an official statement said on July 19. Baljeet Singh alias Rana Bhai alias Balli, hailing from Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh, was arrested on July 18, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said in the statement. NIA’s investigations in the case had led to the arrest of one Gurpreet Singh Gopi, identified as an associate of Landa and of another Khalistani terrorist Satnam Singh Satta, the NIA said. Both Landa and Satta are believed to be operating from Canada to promote terror in India, it said. The NIA is continuing with its investigation as part of its crackdown on the Khalistani terrorist outfits, the statement said.

Bangladesh protests continue over civil service hiring rules; 39 dead, gatherings banned in Dhaka
Bangladeshi students set fire to the country's state broadcaster on Thursday, a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina appeared on the network seeking to calm escalating clashes that have killed at least 39 people. Hundreds of protesters demanding reform of civil service hiring rules fought back and overwhelmed riot police who had fired at them with rubber bullets. The incensed crowd chased the retreating officers to BTV's headquarters in the capital Dhaka, then set ablaze the network's reception building and dozens of vehicles parked outside. Hasina's government has ordered schools and universities to close indefinitely as police step up efforts to bring the country's deteriorating law and order situation under control.

Gaza War: Iranian Samad-3 drone hits Israel's Tel Aviv, kills 1; Yemen's Houthis claim responsibility
A long-range Iranian-made drone hit the centre of Tel Aviv in the early hours of Friday in an attack claimed by the Yemen-based Houthi militia that killed one man and wounded four others, the Israeli military and emergency services said. The explosion, which footage shared on social media suggested came from the sea and did not trigger air raid alarms, occurred hours after the Israeli military confirmed it had killed a senior commander of the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in southern Lebanon. Chief spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the military assessed that the drone, which hit a building near the beachfront close to U.S. Embassy premises in Tel Aviv, was an upgraded Iranian-made Samad-3 model. "Our estimation is that it arrived from Yemen to Tel Aviv," he told a press briefing.

अजमेर में हाथों में डंडे और सरिए लेकर क्षेत्र में दहशत फैलाने आए 4 युवकों को सिविल लाइन थाना पुलिस ने शांति भंग में गिरफ्तार किया है। आरोपी 2 दिन पहले अन्य युवकों से रंजिश को लेकर लड़ाई-झगड़ा करने पहुंचे थे। स्थानीय लोगों ने वीडियो बनाया तो आरोपी भाग. सिविल लाइन थाना प्रभारी छोटूलाल ने बताया- थाना क्षेत्र के अटल उद्यान के पास स्थित अन्वेषण भवन के बाहर का एक वीडियो सोशल मीडिया पर सामने आया था। कुछ युवक हाथों में डंडे और सरिये लेकर घूम रहे थे। वीडियो में दिख रहे 4 युवकों को शांति भंग में गिरफ्तार किया। सभी युवक थाना क्षेत्र के रहने वाले राहुल, पुष्पेंद्र, अमजद और दीपक सांसी है। उन्हें कोर्ट में पेश कर पाबंद किया गया है।4 आरोपी गिरफ्तार।थाना प्रभारी ने बताया कि जांच में सामने आया कि इन सभी युवकों की दो दिन पूर्व कुछ अन्य युवकों से बहस हुई थी। आपसी रंजिश को देखते हुए यह सभी आरोपी ए लड़ाई झगड़ा करने के लिए मौके पर गए थे। इस दौरान स्थानीय लोगों ने जब वीडियो बनाया तो यह सभी आरोपी वहां से भाग गए थे। सभी आरोपियों को कोर्ट में पेश कर पाबंद किया गया है।
