Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Sees 21% Increase in Passenger Traffic in Q1 2024-25
KOCHI: Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV) witnessed a steady increase in passenger traffic in its first quarter of 2024-25, with over 1.26 million passengers traveling through the airport. This represents a 21% growth compared to Q1 2023-24, when 1.038 million passengers were recorded. During the Q1 FY2024-25 period, there were 7,954 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs), marking a 14% increase from the 6,887 ATMs in Q1 2023-24. Sharjah was the most travelled international destination, while Bengaluru topped the domestic list. Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the MAPSglobally diversified Adani Group.

King Charles’ speech: Keir Starmer’s new U.K. government to set out plans in state opening of Parliament
"Now is the time to take the brakes off Britain," Mr. Starmer said in a statement. The speech, and a raft of information published by the government alongside it, is expected to stick closely to the promises Labour made during the election campaign, while giving a clearer picture of Mr. Starmer's immediate priorities. The government will also set out plans to gradually renationalise the passenger rail network and set affordable fares to draw people back on to trains. The plan would shut private companies out of running passenger trains by folding each operator into state control when their contracts to run trains expire. The government will announce legislation to devolve more powers to local communities after Mr. Starmer used his first week in power to meet mayors of major cities and representatives from the devolved nations of the United Kingdom.

It has only been three weeks since a section of a roof of Terminal 1 at the Delhi airport collapsed. Every accident like the Delhi airport collapse seems like the ugly face of jugaad. But just because some inspectors are corrupt it does not mean that the idea of inspection, flowing from regulation, is bad in matters where public safety is involved. Second, there must be a culture of accountability in public institutions that goes right to the top. Ultimately, the Delhi airport collapse shows just how far we have to go before we have a political culture that truly cares about citizens’ lives.

Speeding car crashes into Garware subway
A speeding car veered out of control and crashed through a divider, plunging into the Garware subway near the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj statue in the Deccan area of Pune city early morning Tuesday. One Manoj Kalgude from Pashan was inside the car along with two of his friends. (HT PHOTO)According to the police, the accident took place at around 2 am on Tuesday when the vehicle reportedly speeding from Jangli Maharaj Road towards Fergusson College Road lost control near Garware Bridge and ran into a divider falling into the subway. सीहोर जिले में डेंगू-मलेरिया पर नियंत्रण के लिए कलेक्टर प्रवीण सिंह की पहल पर 'ऑयल बॉल को बनाकर हथियार, मलेरिया डेंगू को भगाएंगे इस बार' अभियान के तहत जिले की भैरूंदा जनपद पंचायत की ग्राम पंचायत सोयत में भी कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। इस दौरान गांव. बारिश के मौसम में खाली प्लाट एवं खुली जगहों पर पानी का भराव हो जाता है। ऐसे में यहां पर मच्छर पनपने लगते हैं। इसके कारण बीमारियों का खतरा भी बढ़ जाता है। बीमारियों से लोगों को बचाने के लिए सीहोर जिले में कलेक्टर प्रवीण सिंह की पहल पर ऑयल बॉल को बनाकर हथियार, मलेरिया डेंगू को भगाएंगे इस बार' अभियान चलाया गया। इसके तहत जिला मुख्यालय से लेकर पंचायत स्तर तक एक साथ कार्यक्रम हुआ। ग्राम पंचायत सोयत में पंचायत के सरपंच हरिओम इवने, पंचायत सचिव हरिदास बैरागी, रोजगार सहायक बलवीर सिंह पंवार के नेतृत्व में गांव की नालियों एवं खुली जगहों पर ऑयल बॉल डाली गई।ग्रामीणों को दी जानकारीपंचायत सचिव हरिदास बैरागी ने ग्रामीणों को जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि ऑयल बॉल से पनपने वाले मच्छर पैदा नहीं होंगे। उन्होंने ग्रामीणों से अपील भी की कि वे अपने घरों के आसपास पानी एकत्रित न होने दें। ऐसी जगह जहां पर पानी एकत्रित हो रहा है वहां पर पानी की निकासी बनाकर पानी को निकालने का प्रयास करें, ताकि उनका परिवार सुरक्षित रह सके। उन्होंने ग्रामीणों से ये अपील भी की है कि यदि घर में कोई बीमार हो रहा हो तो उसे तुरंत डॉक्टर के पास ले जाएं और इलाज करवाएं।6 स्थानों पर डाली गईं ऑयल बॉलग्राम पंचायत सोयत में गांव की नालियों सहित पानी भराव वाले ऐसे 6 स्थानों पर ऑयल बॉल डाली गई, जहां पर डेंगू, मलेरिया के मच्छरों के पनपने का खतरा ज्यादा रहता है। इस दौरान गांव के कई जागरूक नागरिक भी उपस्थित रहे।
