Sources close to Shringla said the Centre was keen on using his expertise in foreign affairs in various ways. “His opinions on foreign affairs are taken seriously across various platforms,” the source added. Apart from being foreign secretary, Shringla had held key positions as chief coordinator of India’s G20 presidency and India’s ambassador to the US, among others. During his current stay in Darjeeling, Shringla and his WWF-India team have been visiting various places in search of the salamander, a lizard-like amphibian.

In Ghaziabad, a young man's suicide attempt by jumping into the Hindon Canal created a stir. Onlookers gathered, some filming the distressing scene as others watched helplessly. Amidst the crowd, a passerby bravely leapt into the canal to rescue the drowning man. With assistance from bystanders, he successfully brought the young man ashore, averting a tragedy. Musk shared earlier that he would start his donations to America PAC to back the former president. Elon Musk plans to commit $45 million per month to a new Trump super PAC. The filing confirmed a donation of $1 million from Lonsdale via Lonsdale Enterprises to the super PAC while the investors Winklevoss twins donated $250,000 each. He has been vocal about the inconsistent support of President Joe Biden for labour unions and his decisions on immigration and border matters.

Chinese tech giant OPPO announced on Tuesday that it has signed a significant global cooperation agreement with telecom equipment maker Ericsson. This agreement covers standard-essential patents (SEPs) essential for cellular communication technologies, including 5G. “We are excited to announce our global cooperation agreement with Ericsson. This cross-licensing arrangement covers cellular standard-essential patents, including those related to 5G, and signifies our mutual recognition and respect for each other’s intellectual property. The “Global 5G Standard-Essential Patents and Standard Proposal Study Report (2023)” by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and the “Global 5G Standard-Essential Patent Strength Report” published by IPlytics in October 2023 confirm that OPPO is a global leader in 5G SEP strength.

Hindalco Industries, an Aditya Birla Group company, has decided to sell off the Kalwa plant land, on the outskirts of Mumbai, to its group company Birla Estates for ₹595 crore. The company will receive 1.5 per cent of the sales revenue as the land is developed and sold off to the prospective customers. Hindalco has signed a definitive agreement with Ekamaya Properties, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Birla Estates. However, Hindalco Industries said Ekamaya Properties is not a part of Promoter/Promoter Group/Group Companies as defined under SEBI (Issue of Capital and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2018, it said. Hindalco Industries acquired Novelis for $6 billion including its $2.4-billion debt in 2007.
