Self-styled ‘godman’ Bhole Baba said on Wednesday that he is very disturbed by the Hathras stampede but nobody can avoid what is destined and everyone has to die one day. “Honee ko kaun taal sakta hai (nobody can avoid what has to happen),” he said, a fortnight after 121 people died in a stampede at a ‘satsang’ held by him. “Jo aaya hai use ek din to jaana bhi hai, bhale hee koi aagey peechey ho,” he added. Bhole Baba, also known as Narayan Sakar Hari whose original name is Suraj Pal, also repeated the claim made earlier by him through his lawyer A.P. Singh said Bhole Baba has reached his ashram at Bahadur Nagar village in Kasganj.

पुणे पुलिस ने अब पूजा खेडकर की मां मनोरमा खेडकर को अवैध हथियार रखने के आरोप में हिरासत में लिया है. आपको बता दें कि पुणे पुलिस ने कुछ दिन पहले पूजा खेडकर की मां को एक नोटिस जारी करके, अगले 10 दिनों के अंदर जवाब देने के लिए कहा था. पूजा खेडकर की मां पर आरोप है कि उन्होंने अपनी जमीन के पास दूसरे किसानों की जमीन पर भी कब्जा करने की कोशिश की है. इस घटना को लेकर जब किसानों ने पुलिस को सूचना दी तो पुलिस ने शिकायत तो ली लेकिन किसी तरह की कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की. Zinc prices may rise on tight supply, improved demand
After rising over 14 per cent since the beginning of 2024, zinc prices will likely rise modestly on a tight supply outlook and forecast of improved demand. “After experiencing substantial volatility in 2023 zinc stocks have recovered, averaging around 250,000 tonnes in May 2024,” it said. World Bank outlookIn April, the World Bank said in its Commodity Outlook that zinc prices are projected to fall by 6 per cent in 2024. The usage of refined zinc metal increased by 2.5 per cent, ILZSG said. AOCE said higher zinc prices should take pressure off mine margins, easing pressure for further price-induced mine closures.

One of the country’s largest sewage treatment plants ready in Telangana
HYDERABAD: One of the country’s largest sewage treatment plants (STP), located in Nagole with a capacity of 320 MLD, is ready for commissioning. Hyderabad STPs Limited, a subsidiary of Ramky Infrastructure, is responsible for building and operating five STPs under Package-II along the Musi River’s south bank. Of the total Rs 1,297 crore project value, Rs 908 crore is allocated for construction, and Rs 389 crore for operation and maintenance over the next 15 years. The Nagole STP, constructed on a 15-acre site, includes a pump house, primary treatment unit, SBR basins, and a chlorine contact tank. Key benefits of the Nagole STP include the prevention of sewage flow into the catchment areas, 100% treatment of sewage generated in the project area and the reuse of treated water for agricultural purposes.

Karur Vysya Bank logs better performance, net income up 28 per cent
MUMBAI: Tamil Nadu-based old-generation, mid-sized private sector lender Karur Vysya Bank has reported a 28 per cent on-year growth in net income at Rs 459 crore for the June quarter. The better performance is driven by robust fee and interest income coupled with improved asset quality. On the back of an over 16 per cent incremental loan sales, net interest income increased 14.27 per cent to Rs 1,025 crore in the reporting quarter, the Karur, Tamil Nadu-based bank said in a statement Thursday. Gross non-performing assets improved by 67 bps to 1.32 per cent or Rs 1,025 crore from 1.99 per cent in June 2023 or Rs 1,330 crore and the net non-performing assets declined to 0.38 per cent or Rs 294 crore, from 0.59 per cent or Rs 390 crore in June 2023. Due to a spike in the cost of funds, to the tune of 52 bps (one basis point is a hundredth of a per cent), the key profitability gauge net interest margin stands declined by 6 bps to 4.13 per cent in the reporting quarter.

Jalasamrudhi: A model of water conservation success in Kerala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amid Kerala’s escalating climate challenges and dwindling groundwater reserves, micro-level initiative ‘Jalasamrudhi’ has emerged as a beacon of success in the Kattakada assembly constituency. Implemented over the past seven years, this community-based conservation programme has not only halted the acute water scarcity the people of the locality have been facing for the past two decades but also significantly replenished groundwater levels. The project officially commenced in 2017 and has since become a cornerstone of sustainable development in the region. According to a comprehensive study by Gautam Ganapathy and Salil C S titled ‘Bureaucracy, Sustainable Development and Decentralisation: Reflections on Jalasamrudhi, a Community-based Water Conservation Programme in Kerala’, groundwater availability in Kattakada has surged from 1,355 million cubic metres (mcm) to 4,908.68 mcm between 2017 and 2019. “As many as 314 ponds and more than 43,000 wells in the area were cleaned as part of the initiative.

मुंबई की ट्रैवल इन्फ्लुएंसर आनवी कामदार, 27, महाराष्ट्र के रायगढ़ जिले में प्रसिद्ध कुंभे जलप्रपात पर इंस्टाग्राम रील फिल्माने के दौरान एक खाई में गिरने से दुखद रूप से मर गईं। इंस्टाग्राम पर @theglocaljournal के नाम से मशहूर कामदार एक चार्टर्ड अकाउंटेंट थीं, जो अपनी यात्राओं का दस्तावेजीकरण बड़ी संख्या में लोगों के साथ करती थीं।कामदार 16 जुलाई को सात दोस्तों के समूह के साथ झरने की सैर पर निकली थीं। मानगांव पुलिस स्टेशन के एक अधिकारी के अनुसार, यात्रा के दौरान, वीडियो शूट करते समय वह फिसलकर 300 फीट गहरी खाई में गिर गईं।इस घटना के बाद उनके दोस्तों ने स्थानीय अधिकारियों को सूचित किया, जिन्होंने तुरंत बचाव अभियान शुरू कर दिया। बचाव दल के अलावा, तटरक्षक बल, कोलाड बचाव दल और महाराष्ट्र राज्य विद्युत बोर्ड के कर्मचारियों ने भी सहायता प्रदान की।जैसे ही मौके पर पहुंचे तो हमने पाया कि लड़की करीब 300-350 फीट नीचे गिर गई थी। और उसके पास पहुंचने के बाद भी उसे उठाना मुश्किल था। साथ ही वह घायल थी व भारी बारिश हो रही थी। और इसलिए हमने उसे एक चरखी का उपयोग करके बाहर निकालने का फैसला किया। और एक बचावकर्मी ने NDTV को बताया।ऑपरेशन में शामिल एक अन्य व्यक्ति के अनुसार, जो लोकमत से बात करता है, घाटी से बड़े-बड़े पत्थर गिरने से बचाव और भी जटिल हो गया था। इन चुनौतियों के बावजूद, छह घंटे की मशक्कत के बाद कामदार को दरार से बाहर निकाला गया। दुर्भाग्य से, बचाए जाने के कुछ ही समय बाद मानगांव तालुका सरकारी अस्पताल में उसकी मौत हो गई।अधिकारियों ने तब से पर्यटकों से अपील जारी की है कि वे झरनों पर जाते समय, खासकर मानसून के मौसम में, अत्यधिक सावधानी बरतें। यह दुखद घटना सही शॉट की तलाश के संभावित खतरों को रेखांकित करती है और सोशल मीडिया सामग्री पर सुरक्षा को प्राथमिकता देने के महत्व को उजागर करती है।
