External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is following the ongoing protests in Bangladesh “closely”, said a senior official of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on July 19. Sources said the Indian High Commission was working with Bangladesh authorities to help Indian students who want to return home in view of the uncertainty and violence. The protests in Bangladesh turned into violent clashes between the students, political parties on one side and the police, which led to the death of dozens of protesters on Thursday. Sources informed that Indian officials in Dhaka are coordinating with the BSF and the Bureau of Immigration in facilitating return of Indian students from Bangladesh.
