Microsoft sinks, chipmakers climb as AI rally faces divide
The gains in chipmakers and losses in their biggest customers underscored a divide in the AI landscape, with investors recently questioning whether Wall Street's AI rally may have become overextended. "Microsoft reported some deceleration in its core cloud business, but a huge increase in capex. That represents a transfer of wealth from Microsoft shareholders to Nvidia shareholders," said Gil Luria, senior software analyst at D.A. Meta Platforms dropped about 3%, while Amazon lost 2.8% following Microsoft's results. Investors are impatient to see more results from massive investments in AI, said Daniel Morgan, senior portfolio manager at Synovus Trust.

Rau's IAS Study Circle, a premier coaching centre in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar – one of the numerous such centres in the area – had four floors, a parking space and a basement which housed a library. In the evening of July 27, 2024, 30-35 students were attending an online session in the basement library when all hell broke loose. Around 7 pm, with the roads outside flooded amid heavy rains in the city and roadside drains clogged, floodwater started gushing inside the basement. But three UPSC aspirants – Shreya Yadav (25), Tanya Soni (25) and Nevin Dalvin (28) – got trapped inside for hours. Despite higher margins and top-line, M&M net slips 5.3% to Rs 2,613 crore
MUMBAI: The homegrown automaker Mahindra & Mahindra has reported a marginal 5.3 percent year-on-year fall in standalone net in the June quarter at Rs 2,613 crore despite a healthy topline growth and robust margins. In the June 2023 quarter, M&M’s standalone profit had nearly doubled to Rs 2,759 crore, boosted by a one-time gain of over Rs 405 crore. In sub-3.5 tonne light commercial vehicles and e-three wheelers space, the company registered a market share of 50.9 percent and 43.4 percent, respectively.
