This follows a misunderstanding between some members of University Hall (Katanga) and Unity Hall, (Conti) on Sunday morning. In videos gone viral on social media, the students were seen fighting and throwing blows at each other. Members of each camp were also captured throwing chairs at their fellows at the Great Hall. The confusion occurred during the vetting of some persons for the Students Representative Council elections. When the Katangees arrived, there was some sort of confusion between them and the Continentals.

When the youth of Ejura clashed with the security forces, the situation escalated, leading to the killing of two more persons in what has also been widely criticized. But, Prof. Kwesi Aning says that there is already low confidence of the public in the police and to have sent in the military to Ejura, meant that the situation has escalated so much. When assessments are made, it is then up to the political leadership to step in to assuage people’s hurts. Prof Aning has therefore challenged the security services to provide the supposed intelligence as they claim to have it, adding that even in his own analysis, that intelligence appears so flawed. Fire destroys parts of Railways Quarters in Accra

Reports say that the fire started at 1:00 am today, Sunday, July 4, 2021, although the immediate cause of the fire remains unknown. However, some of the victims say they suspect the inferno was an act of arson, reports Citinewsroom.com. It will be recalled that only this past Friday, July 2, 2021, there was a fire at the Railways Police Station, destroying several properties at the station. When they did, the people hooted at them, refusing to allow the fire tender access into the premises from where the fire happened.

He projected that by Tuesday, July 6, 2021, these affected students should be discharged from the health facility they are currently receiving medical care at. He noted that the parents of these affected students have been informed. Dr Asiedu-Bekoe further urged Ghanaians to keep adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols to safeguard their lives.

He described the words as malicious and is therefore asking that the court charges the defendant for;-General damages for libel contained in Mr. Justice’ speech and-Aggravated damages arising from the libel published by same, as well as costs including the lawyer’s fees. Mahama commends NDC communicators for data-driven analysis

I feel like it’s my fault – Efia Odo weeps on live radio over Macho Kaaka’s death
She disclosed that a social media user sent her a disheartening message, accusing her and other members of the #FixTheCountry of being the cause of Macho Kaaka's death. She claims the texter said, had it not been for their activism, Macho Kaaka would not have been beaten and killed by a mob. The other basis for her weeping is that she pictures herself in the same situation as Macho Kaaka, stating that “it could have been me." I read comments and some people say that but for the #FixTheCountry campaign, this wouldn’t have happened but if the country headed in the right direction, we wouldn’t be complaining. Kaaka’s death and the disturbances that ensued led to the death of two other persons who have been buried.

He said, the posture by the police compounds the insecurity of the country and creates fear and panic among the citizens. Speaking on JoyNews on Saturday, July 3, Prof Aning said, “when the security services and their political masters refuse to listen and to engage; that is why Wa, Ejura and Sene military brutalities have happened. Prof Aning said security personnel must show a duty of care and be measured in their actions when dealing with civilians. He, therefore, called for an overhaul of the institutional culture and training of the Ghana Armed Forces. Prof Aning stated that in a democratic dispensation, civil democratic control, there must be an engagement that “seeks to build institutions that speak to or respond to the needs and the changing dynamics of the communities that they serve.”

Ghanaians living without water because of galamsey make up 28% of population
This, according to Dr. Emmanuel Obuobie, the Head of Surface Water Division of the Water Research Institute (WRI), even without the impact of galamsey, areas with scarce water include places like the Pra Basin, reports graphic.com.gh. He added that this has exacerbated the already dire water scarcity conditions of the people who depend on them for their daily use and benefit. The seminar was on the theme, “Galamsey and Water Security.”He therefore hinted the dire consequences the country could face should there be water scarcity, calling for lasting solutions to avert this. “The levels recorded were far above World Health Organisation’s (WHO’s) recommended levels for fresh water. Furthermore, the heavy metals used in galamsey operations such as mercury for gold extraction adversely affects soil and water quality,” Dr Duah said.
