135 students, staff of Achimota school contract new Delta variant of Coronavirus
During a Coronavirus update by the Ghana Health Service at the Information Ministry on Sunday, July 4, it was revealed that the cases were recorded after some students in the school were tested. He noted that these recorded cases of the Delta strain show that the highly contagious variant is in the community. But giving more details about the fast-spreading Delta variant which was first recorded in Ghana some few days ago, officials from Ghana Health Service disclosed that some students had been infected. Adding, "We have received results of about 843 samples…so far of the 550, 135 tested positive, so we’re waiting for the 293 samples which were collected from yesterday. "All 135 cases at the time of diagnosis were either asymptomatic or had mild to moderate illness.

Blended with a lot of fun activities and led by Oswald Okaitei, who is also a poet the reading was done in turns as Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye read with the students and then with the moderator. It was followed by a conversation on the theme of the book and its correlation with the lifestyle in the constituency. The almost two-hour event engaged over 200 students and about a hundred non-students.

The idea is to bring them formally to the exchange so we are increasing our reach in the West African market then the wider African market,” she noted.

Decision by UK Methodist church to allow same sex marriage won't affect Ghana - Pastor explains

He explained that being autonomous conferences around the world, the decision of the UK church is not binding on them. And, as much as the decision of the British Methodist church may be tied on all other Methodists, the truth is that the decision they have made is not binding on any Methodist Conference. US names Tamale's ‘sakawa king’ Maxwell Peter among top 30 online fraudsters

Known more popularly as Maxwell Peter, the suspect, who was arrested and extradited to the US in August 2020, has been indicted and charged with wire fraud, money laundering, computer fraud and aggravated identity theft, reports mynewsgh.com. With his name making it to this list, it makes him one of the top names from West Africa who have been involved in massive fraud. This was contained in a communication from the United States Department of Justice website sighted by MyNewsGh.com which read in part, “The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee is prosecuting numerous individuals in connection with an international fraud perpetrated, in part, through online dating websites. Also contained in the indictment was the allegation that a series of intrusions into the servers and email systems of a Memphis-based real estate company in June and July 2016 were perpetuated by various Africa-based co-conspirators committed, or caused them to be committed.

GH¢450 million spent on flood control since 2017 - Asenso-Boakye

Presenting a statement to lawmakers on “Addressing the Increasing Risk of Flooding across the country”, he said the investment in flood control since 2017 compares with GH¢88 million invested between 2011 and 2016. One can only imagine the value of assets that are at risk to flooding across the country,” the Minister said. Mr. Asenso-Boakye announced that the government is collaborating with the World Bank to invest more than US$200m to address solid waste and flood risk challenges in the Odaw Drainage Basin. The project will see the development and implementation of a Flood Early Warning System to enhance community safety and resilience.
