The Commercial Division of the Accra High Court has asked the hospital to pay GH¢326,456 in damages to the family of Kofi Duffour and Joyce Akyaah Barnes, parents of the baby. According to the report, this amount includes general damages of GH¢200,000 and costs of GH¢20,000 against the hospital and its owner, Dr. Amoo Mensah. It continued that the court had ruled that the hospital negligently failed to live up to professional medical standards in providing antenatal care for the baby’s mother. Details of the case are that in March 2017, the parents of the baby sought antenatal care from the Sam-J Specialist Hospital. She concluded that they were liable for leaving the child handicapped for life and thereby slapped with the damage cost of GH¢326,456.

His grandmother did not see him again until she received a distress call that her grandson had committed suicide. She met the lifeless body of her grandson hanging on a ceiling fan with a mosquito net being used to tie his neck. Two persons have however been arrested by the Asokwa district police in connection with the death of the 11-year-old boy. The two, who are all sons of the late Boateng's grandmother have since been detained by the Asokwa police to help in the investigation. Meanwhile, the police command have conveyed the 11-year-old boy's body to a hospital morgue for an autopsy and a further investigation.

GhanaWeb's correspondent in the Ashanti region said the two suspects in police custody are relatives of the deceased. The incident was confirmed to the media by the Ashanti Regional Police Command P.R.O, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, after the deceased's elder brother visited the police station to file a complaint. He said the boy had a rope tied around his neck on a ceiling fan while his legs hanged on a mattress. The 10-year-old Paul Boateng was found in one of the rooms at home by his elder brother who had returned from work at about 3pm. His lifeless body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation.

Azeem suspects that Kwaku Agyeman-Manu attempted to hide the truth of payment that was made by the Ministry to Sheikh Al Makhtoum and would want certain questions answered. “But of course at the end of the day, the Minister is the overall head of the Ministry and he should be responsible,” he said. “It’s now left to him to take actions on the subordinates that probably tried to undermine him if that was the situation.
