The Bono Regional Chairman for Poultry Farmers Association, David K Ampofo, is livid at the Agric Minister’s posture and his total neglect of the poultry industry adding that the industry is now in ‘life support’ unit. High cost of productionThe poultry industry can break even at a maximum maize price of Gh₵60 per 50kg bag and soya beans at Gh₵140 per 50 kg bag. According to him, local poultry farmers have not benefitted from the Akufo led administration, hence their intended action. Maize for instance went up by 100% and then wheat and soybean all went up” he said. He further revealed on the program that, the minister for Agriculture has disobeyed the president’s directives to them to save the local poultry industry.

The Ghana Health Service says any such attempts could affect such persons medically, placing their lives at great risk. Dr. Kuma-Aboagye added that the country is to receive, in batches, 16.9 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines to augment the numbers that have already been vaccinated in the country. Already, on August 7, the country took delivery of the first batch of 177,600 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine which is coming from the Africa Union’s African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT), the report added. In the meantime, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye has indicated that the country will receive its next batch of AstraZeneca vaccines in early September.

In a statement read by Mr. Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, the command has intercepted a video footage on the assault of the two (2) alleged thieves and is retaining it for evidential purposes. The two persons, according to the police were identified as Ernest Kwabena Poku alias Lilwin who died shortly after he was admitted at the hospital. Meanwhile, family of the deceased, Kwabena Poku whose wife just delivered about two(2) months ago had earlier come out demanding justice for their relative since they believed he was not a thief. Mr. Godwin Ahianyo in the release, however revealed that the Ashanti Regional Police Command has begun a serious investigation into the matter until justice is served.

Richard Owusu, a former okada rider told GhanaWeb that he stopped engaging in the work following an accident and constant police harassment. He blamed some vehicle drivers for disregarding and “disrespecting” okada riders as road users. This comes following a report that a student of the school, attacked one of the teachers by name, John Kwashi Akey, after the teacher confronted the final year Visual Arts student over his manhandling of a first-year student. A report by citinewsroom.com stated that the student, Gilbert Akakpo, then pulled out a sharp object and attempted stabbing the teacher, resulting in the teacher sustaining cuts on his arm. In a statement from the National Association of Graduate Teachers, it said that it disagrees with the reports that the student who was in police custody, has been granted bail and asked to prepare to write the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination. The exam is to be invigilated by the same teacher and his colleagues but NAGRAT says the teachers have their blessings to boycott the exercise. NAGRAT also expressed regret at the news that some influential persons within the school were the very people who pushed for the students’ bail.

Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Health Minister, in his quest to get Ghanaians vaccinated against the novel Coronavirus engaged the services of the Private Office of Sheikh Al Maktoum for the supply of the Sputnik V vaccines. Sheikh Al Maktoum was paid $2,850,000 for his services out of an expected $5,700,000. Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum, decided to refund the money following a request from the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, who is at the moment on a two-week leave. At a nine-member parliamentary ad-hoc committee probe on the issue, the embattled Health Minister admitted to entering into the contract with the Dubai Sheikh, without parliamentary approval. He indicated that he approved the purchase of US$64.6 million contracts for the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia, out of the exigencies of the time.

According to the Auditor-General’s report, SSNIT invested US$6.08 million in Ningo Salt Limited (NSL) in July, 2005, US$3,650,000 in Granite and Marbles Limited in July, 1994, and US$5,038,153 in Canada Investment Fund for Africa (CIFA) in June, 2005. The Auditor-General further directed the Management of SSNIT to investigate the non-performance of the investments to ensure value for money. In the case of Ningo Salt Limited (NSL), the US$6.08 million stated as loss has reduced to US$1.93 million. The investment was made in July 2005.c. On Granite and Marbles Limited, SSNIT managed to retrieve its unpaid Social Security Contributions of GH¢428,337.07. The investment was made in July 1994.d. On the Canada Investment Fund for Africa (CIFA), the Trust has recovered US$2,064,109 of the total investment.

Family members and student activists allege 22-year-old Benson Njiru Ndwiga and 19-year-old Emmanuel Mutura Ndigwa were allegedly killed whilst in police custody. Rights group Missing Voices say their bodies were found two days later by family members at a local morgue. A section of Kenyans are pushing for the resignation of Interior Minister Fred Matiangi over their deaths. Family members were joined by hundreds of mourners at the funeral in their hometown of Kianjokoma in Embu County.
