The delegation led by NSA Director General Peter Twumasi and GOC President Ben Nunoo-Mensah touched down on Tuesday without Olympic bronze medalist, Samuel Takyi. Mohamed Sahnoon, President of the Ghana Cycling Federation, Isaac Aboagye Duah, President of the Ghana Tennis Association among others. He said, “When we set out off to Tokyo, many Ghanaians didn’t have the belief that these athletes could break the 29-year-old medal drought. Today, these athletes have redeemed the image of Ghana at the Olympics.”Adding, ”It has taken us 29 years to do this.

GSE recorded its biggest IPO in 2019 - Ofori-Atta reveals

He explained that with the listing of MTN on the GSE, it added up to this feat. “The biggest IPO in the history of the GSE was also achieved in 2019 with the listing of MTN on our market,” he said. He also disclosed that there is a new collaboration with the aim of making Ghana a better emerging market. “A collaboration between the London Stock Exchange and the GSE has been initiated to, among other things, help Ghana move from being classified as a frontier market to an emerging market,” he explained.

Police, NIC arrest Lebanese for operating illegal insurance firm
The suspect in question, the NIC said was however arrested together with two other accomplices believed to be his employees. “Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect had been operating this illegal business for a long time unnoticed until, some intelligence information led the NIC to tighten its loop on him leading to his arrest,” the statement read in part. “Further investigations revealed that some apparently unsuspecting members of the general public including some renowned automobile companies have been patronizing their services,“ it added. It continued, “The Police are currently investigating the matter with the view to bringing the perpetrators of these criminal acts to book. The Insurance Commission on the hand cautioned the public, corporate entities particularly automobile firms to desist from transacting business with unauthorized entities not recognized by the Law.

Importation of right-hand vehicles do not attract customs duty penalties
Business News of Tuesday, 10 August 2021Source: Eye on PortA supervisor at the Vehicle Valuation Unit of the Customs Technical Services Bureau, Mr. Justice Njornan Magah Yadjayime has disclosed that there are no penalties on right-hand vehicle importation into the country by way of additional customs duties when they are being cleared at the Ports. Touching on right-hand drive vehicles on the Eye on Port live interactive programme, he said contrary to some speculations among the general public that right-hand vehicles attract additional duties from customs as penalties, that cannot be true. According to him, the law on right-hand drive vehicles was changed in 1974 to encourage people to drive on the right lane with the steering wheel on the left. “So in 2001, the law was reviewed to allow for the Minister to give the permission before the right-hand vehicles were cleared. After the vehicles get to the border, the officers there will disarm the transit device and process for the vehicle to exit the country, he added.

Restore public confidence in the fight against corruption - GACC to new SP
In a press statement copied to GhanaWeb, GACC appealed to Mr Agyabeng to make corruption look expensive to deter people from engaging in it. The Coalition also hopes the anti-graft czar would be allowed to work independently devoid of any suppression from external sources. "The Coalition urges the Special Prosecutor to lead the charge in making corruption a low gain and high-risk venture in Ghana. This is necessary to reassure the citizenry of his fullest commitment to the fight against corruption, as well as serve to rekindle public trust and confidence in the Office of the Special Prosecutor," part of the statement read. Kissi Agyabeng has vowed to suppress and repress corruption in the country.

19-year-old mother of two reveals she suffers epileptic attacks every day

“Now, technology has advanced, science has advanced, awareness has advanced, research has advanced so clearly, we’ve become more aware of LGBTQ people than we were before. “Before we started discussing this Bill, there were LGBTQ people who were having sex. What difference did it make that two men or two women were sleeping in their room and having sex? Did it change the price of kenkey or change the price of the V8 parliament was going to buy?” he said. He has therefore asked that some practicality is accorded to discussions concerning the community, their activities, and the Bill before parliament.

This will be the first impressive outing since the 2009/2010 crop season where a little above a million tonnes of cocoa beans were produced. It is also because, the source added, before the main crop season ended in June, harvest was far above the target for the year although it had an earlier forecast of 900,000 tonnes of cocoa beans production. According to the report, this year, there have been too many cocoa beans produced with some of the Licensed Buying Cocoa Companies, particularly the smaller players, having exhausted the seed funds provided them by COCOBOD.
