The #FixTheCountry campaigners have been trying to hold a protest but the Ghana Police Service has become their impediment. “I have criticised clearly the decision of the government to prevent the #FixTheCountry movement from embarking on their constitutionally mandated right to demonstrate. “But I am asking everybody, especially members of the Fix The Country movement to join hands with the NDC. He said, “one of the things we need to be mindful of is that #FixTheCountry is not a group or entity. So just because they have been granted the chance to protest and ours was denied doesn’t mean our interests necessarily align,” he added.

The accidents happen at the uncompleted portion of the road which is untarred and with potholes. Godfred Nyaaba, indicated that the spot is dangerous adding that many lives had been lost there through road accidents. Another Ovando Ndibo, lamented that there were a lot of potholes on the uncompleted portion of the road. When I got to that portion of the road, how bumpy the road was, I felt pity for the woman.

This, according to Dr. Emmanuel Obuobie, the Head of Surface Water Division of the Water Research Institute (WRI), even without the impact of galamsey, areas with scarce water include places like the Pra Basin, reports graphic.com.gh. He added that this has exacerbated the already dire water scarcity conditions of the people who depend on them for their daily use and benefit. The seminar was on the theme, “Galamsey and Water Security.”He therefore hinted the dire consequences the country could face should there be water scarcity, calling for lasting solutions to avert this. “The levels recorded were far above World Health Organisation’s (WHO’s) recommended levels for fresh water. Furthermore, the heavy metals used in galamsey operations such as mercury for gold extraction adversely affects soil and water quality,” Dr Duah said.

He said to facilitate the effective implementation of the National Plan of Action Phase II (2017 -2022) for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labour, a comprehensive and holistic approach was needed for the identification, withdrawal and provision of remediation services to children that fell victim to the practices of child labour. He reiterated that the different actors within the public and private sectors had roles to play in the fight against child labour, adding that the surest way to defeat the menace was to link efforts coherently. He urged the EU and other Development Partners to critically consider the Ghanaian cultural setting in the fight against child labour. The Minister re-affirmed government's commitment to use the education approach in the fight child labour to win the fight by 2025 as part of efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8.7

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo granted the presidential pardon to him on grounds of ill-health, reports 3news.com. It is reported that last month, Abuga Pele was taken ill at the Nsawam Maximum Security Prison, from where he was transferred to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital. He was admitted at the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the hospital but has since been discharged, the report said. Abuga Pele, who was an MP for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was sentenced to a six-year imprisonment by an Accra High Court in 2018.

For years, the activities of these agents, known more commonly as a Goro Boys, have contributed to the negative perceptions the DVLA has had. And while their activities persist, with their influence growing day in, day out, the DVLA says it will soon regularize their work. There is a part of the form that says, 'Agent', where somebody can lead you to register the car and these are the goro boys but these days, the Authority is trying to register all of them. When we are able to register all the goro guys out there, give them a tag, I'm sure all these problems will be solved," he said. The DVLA, among other things, checked for compliance among new cars and licenses, while the MTTD performed random checks on drivers.
