Over 60,000 People Cross Into Ethiopia From Sudan
Sudan has witnessed deadly armed clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since April 15. On Wednesday, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said that some 60,046 people have fled the conflict in Sudan into neighboring Ethiopia. The UN migration agency said that over 60,000 people have arrived in Ethiopia through multiple border crossing points in Amhara, Benishangul Gumz and Gambella Regions. It said the armed conflict in Sudan has forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee to neighboring countries. Sudan has witnessed deadly armed clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in the capital city of Khartoum and other areas since April 15, with the two sides accusing each other of initiating the conflict.

Ethiopian minister commends China's contributions to economic progress
ADDIS ABABA, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese companies in Ethiopia are playing a significant role in the country's economic development, Ethiopian Finance Minister Ahmed Shide said here Wednesday. "The way Chinese companies work in Ethiopia is very much in a responsible way when it comes to contributing to the development of the country. Aklilu Tadesse, chief executive officer of Ethiopia's Industrial Parks Development Corporation, said during the forum that China's engagement has propelled Ethiopia's quest to become the manufacturing hub of Africa. In addition to constructing the majority of the industrial parks across Ethiopia, Chinese companies are also the main sources of investment inside the industrial parks, Tadesse said. The forum brought together senior Ethiopian government officials, representatives from Chinese enterprises in Ethiopia and their Ethiopian counterparts, as well as diplomats in the East African country.

Manhunt for killers under way after Ethiopian man found dead in bullet-riddled car in Mpumalanga
An Ethiopian man was shot multiples times in his car in Mpumalanga. His body was found in a bullet-riddled blue Toyota Corolla on the side of the road. Mpumalanga police are on the hunt for the perpetrators of the murder of a 42-year-old Ethiopian man who was found dead inside a bullet-riddled Toyota Corolla on the side of the road on Sunday. He had gunshot wounds and was unfortunately certified dead by the paramedics," said police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala. Anyone who has information that could help the police find the perpetrators can contact Detective Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Digoro on 082 318 9925.

Ethiopia: Upper House votes to form 12th regional state
Ethiopia's upper house of parliament on Wednesday "unanimously" gave the green light to the creation of a 12th regional state, called the "Southern Ethiopian Region", after a recent referendum in the south of the country. These six zones and five districts will therefore form the "Southern Ethiopian Region", continues the Chamber, without specifying the terms or deadlines for this future organization. Article 47 of the Constitution authorizes each "Nation, nationality or people belonging to one of the regional States (...) to form, at any time, its own" regional State, subject to the organization of a referendum and a favorable outcome. Delays, Cancellations Top Complaints List As Domestic Travel Records Two Million Passengers In Q1 2023
A breakdown of the traffic, as contained in the executive summary made available to THEWILL on Wednesday, indicated a total of 375,700 inbound passengers and 495,076 outbound passengers on international routes. These flights were operated by 25 international airlines with 3,073 flights and 11 domestic airlines with 182,88 flights between January to March 2023. Regarding complaints from passengers, the data revealed that there were 1,193 delays, 24 cancelled flights and 6 air returns on international routes, while domestic operations recorded 10,128 delays, 284 cancelled flights and 28 air returns. The NCAA said it received 27 complaints on international routes and 45 on domestic routes, while the number of cases resolved was 9 on international flights and 22 on domestic flights. On international routes, complaints received include overbooking, denied boarding, pilfered luggage, and discourteous conduct amongst others, just as the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) also received several complaints.

Ninety percent of its members are high school students. Wylie East Skills USA advisor David Lanman reported that Wylie East High School students Madison Palmer and Julia Gilbreath (Class of 2023), along with junior Tufe Uslu, placed second, winning silver medals in the Crime Scene Investigation contest. Wylie East freshman Cash Welch participated in the Action Skills contest where he presented a 5–7-minute demonstration on preparing metal to weld. Morrison Goldade from Wylie High School also had a second-place team in a robotics competition.

They said that five people were killed during an attack perpetrated by the militants in Meskan Woreda last Monday, July 03, 2023. The victims are three students and two mothers, the residents said, adding that after the killing spree in Meskan the militants moved to Mareko Woreda. Peace and Security Sector head of Guraghe Zone, Commander Tejie Yirdaw confirmed to the Weekly Reporter that he had received information about the armed militants that have caused attacks in the above stated Woredas.
