MetroWest Daily NewsWe may not want to live in the past, but it's nice to remember it. At the professional level today, with few exceptions, it's like Whiffle Ball. Meanwhile, baseball at the high school level now resembles "bashball" with most teams using the abominable aluminum bats, rather than playing the game the way it should be played - that is, with safer, more legitimate wooden bats. Also, some of these high school baseball teams mimic the pros who disrespect our flag by failing to play our national anthem before the ballgame and, then, play distracting, disturbing, and deafening, walk-up disco noise during the game. We may not be able to bring back the "Good Old Days," but we can bring back the "Grand Old Game" of baseball to its glory days, both at the amateur and professional levels, by correcting the gross errors and manipulations currently found at every level of today's game.

That flagpole and all banners attached is not a place for the display of political ideology, identity politics or commercials. TOKYO (Reuters) – Olympic all-around champion Simone Biles said the gymnast she most wants to beat in Tokyo is herself and that she is excited about trying things in the sport that were once “unimaginable”. The 24-year-old has won a record 25 world championship medals, 19 of which are gold, and has won every all-around competition she has contested since 2013. She also won four gold medals, and a bronze, at the Rio Games and is fully expected to add to that tally in Tokyo. “I’m trying to be better than I was at the last meet, so I’m trying to beat myself,” Biles told NBC television. The Tokyo gymnastics competition gets underway on July 24 with the men’s qualification round, and the women’s competition starts a day later.

Chris LisinskiState House News ServiceBOSTON - Some local voting precincts may be split into two state legislative districts in the ongoing decennial redistricting effort, a top lawmaker said Monday during a hearing at which constituents called for reshaping the Fourth Congressional District. "There is no feasible way for the legislative process to wait for the local reprecincting process this year," he said. Brownsberger and Moran's panel is partway through a series of hearings to receive public testimony from constituents in the state's nine congressional districts about redistricting. One of the largest questions the committee will need to answer is how to handle Fall River. The northwestern chunk of Fall River is in the Fourth Congressional District that Auchincloss represents, while the remainder falls into the Ninth Congressional District represented by Congressman William Keating.

“It’s really sort of groundbreaking. “We put several hundred thousand dollars in the budget for a new workforce development program for transgender and nonbinary adults. So I feel like now that’s a great legacy to leave this for someone else to build on these sort of very groundbreaking investments in the community,” Alexander-Reid adds. “I think that it’s going to put my office in a great place to move forward with whoever takes my place. “I think we’ve done a disservice to the transgender community, quite frankly.

I am on the lookout for it, but I don’t see it becoming a spiral,” Mann told lawmakers. The U.S. economy has rebounded faster than Britain’s and Mann said the Federal Reserve was likely to raise interest rates before the BoE. Finance markets currently price in a first rate rise by the BoE – to 0.25% from 0.1% – by June next year.
