corporate houses, millers, wholesalers and retailers can’t evade their responsibility for the price hike of rice,” he told BSS. Joint drives will be conducted against the enlisted rice millers by the food department, local administration and national consumers’ right protection directorate,” he said. DAE Director General Badal Chandra Biswas called the rice market situation “an anarchy” and “We need cooperation from all quarters to stop it”. Bangladesh Auto Husking Mill Owners Association president M Abdur Rashid acknowledged that rice price mounted fast in recent weeks claiming that the hike was caused by lack of paddy supplies and less import. Rashid refused allegation of unholy syndication on their part saying “we are doing business amid hard competition, so there is no more existence of syndicate particularly in the rice market”.

DHAKA, Jan 31 (BSS) - Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Mantytsky today said BNP's allegation that the new Bangladesh government was formed with the help of foreign powers namely Russia, India and China is misleading and false. "It (BNP's allegation) is misleading or false information... don't believe it," he told journalists in response to a reporter's inquiry about the BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy's claim. Gayeshwar had controversially stated that the current government was not chosen by the Bangladeshi people but was instead "installed by foreign powers," specifically naming India, China, and Russia. The Russian Ambassador strongly affirmed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was democratically elected by the citizens and emphasized that a significant 41 percent votes were cast in the last national election. The ambassador was talking with the reporters after holding his maiden meeting with foreign minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at the foreign ministry here.

Do all you can to work against this impulse for moral supremacy, and broaden your Cornell experience by engaging with opposing and challenging views. History is full of moral crusades, and we needn’t look far to identify harmful movements of the past, such as pogroms of the 20th century. But there are honorable moral crusades, such as that of the Civil Rights Movement, that ushered in a much more moral society. Also consider that Cornell has been through its fair share of moral crusades. Daniel Obaseki is a fourth year student in the College of Arts and Sciences and the President of the Cornell Political Union.

Like, I’m not going to be saying yes to doing heroin or robbing a bank or other obviously stupid and morally dubious actions. “I’m too old for that,” “I already have my friends” or “I’ve done that before” come all too easily. Each is an excuse often uttered from the lips of a senior saying “no” to some kind of socially hazardous experience. His fortnightly column Agree to Disagree is a collection of musings and opinions on campus and the Cornell community at large. The Cornell Daily Sun is interested in publishing a broad and diverse set of content from the Cornell and greater Ithaca community.
