Sanatani leader Chinmoy Krishna detained in Dhaka
Police have detained Chinmoy Krishna Brahmachari, a spokesman for the Sanatan Jagaran Mancha, from Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport.A Facebook page associated with Pundarik Dham shared a photo of Chinmoy, claiming he was "picked up by individuals identifying as DB police from Dhaka airport. "Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallik of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch confirmed that Chinmoy Krishna had been taken into custody.He said, "He was detained based on a requisition following a complaint. He will be handed over to the designated police station accordingly. "The detective officer could not immediately specify the details of the allegations against Chinmoy.Swatantra Gauranga Das Brahmachari, a leader of the alliance, told bdnews24.com, "Chinmoy Prabhu was supposed to fly from Dhaka to Chattogram. "Chinmoy Krishna, principal of Chattogram's Pundarik Dham, has been advocating on behalf of the Sanatani or Hindu community across Bangladesh, raising eight demands, including an end to minority persecution.Following a public rally at Chattogram's Laldighi Maidan on Oct 25, a sedition case was filed on Oct 30 against Chinmoy and 18 others at Kotwali Police Station.

Beximco workers block highway for 10 hours over salary arrears
The workers have left the road after receiving payment, police sayWorkers of the Beximco Industrial Park have demonstrated again by blocking roads in Gazipur, demanding payment of overdue salaries. Subir Kumar Saha, assistant commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, told bdnews24.com: "The workers left the road around 7:15pm. Since then, money has started coming into their accounts.”Previously, the workers had staged protests by blocking the highway for seven consecutive days demanding a month’s unpaid salary. Kashimpur police chief Saiful Islam said nearly half of the 40,000 workers of the Beximco Group factory have received their October payment. The remaining unpaid workers, mostly from garment factories, staged the protest, he added.

Police file case over Sunday's incident at Sutrapur
DHAKA, Nov 25, 2024 (BSS)- Police on Sunday filed a case against 7000 to 8000 unidentified people for their alleged involvement in carrying out vandalism, attacking police personnel and looting a magazine loaded with bullets. Duty officer, sub inspector Saidur Rahman of Sutrapur thana told BSS that police filed the case with Sutrapur Police Station. He said the case was filed against them as they attacked the police personnel, prevented them from discharging their professional duties, vandalised the police vehicles and looted a magazine loaded with bullets. No one was so far arrest in this connection till filing of this report at 11:30pm today. Sub Inspector (SI) Abdul Kaium of Sutrapur Police Station was appointed as investigation officer (IO) of the case.

Classes and exams at Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy Colleges have been suspended on TuesdayDr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College has returned to normal after nearly two hours of clashes between its students and those from Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College. In protest of the attacks and looting, students at Suhrawardy College and Nazrul College announced a “Mega Monday” protest programme. Later, they marched towards Mollah College near Demra Road, joining with students from Kabi Nazrul College. Despite efforts to control the situation peacefully, unruly students managed to break through police barriers and advanced towards Mollah College, where the clashes took place.”He added, “There were chases, counter-chases, and clashes between the students of Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul College, and Mollah College, resulting in injuries to about 25 students. CLASS, EXAM SUSPENDED AT KABI NAZRUL, SUHRAWARDYClasses and exams at Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul College in Old Dhaka were suspended on Tuesday following clashes and attacks at Mollah College in Jatrabari.
