Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 slated for mid-September

– Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from September 13-15, aiming to support domestic firms to engage more deeply into the global production and supply chains.According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the organiser of the event, many foreign supermarkets, distributors and retailers are making their shopping list for products from Vietnamese suppliers at the event, which is expected to connect foreign importers and domestic manufacturers and exporters.Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 will include a series of activities, including conference, trade exchange programmes and the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2023, which expects the participation of 300 businesses from different areas in the international supply chain. Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 is a reputable event that draws leading firms in various fields, including food, garment and textile, footwear, handbag, sportswerar, home appliances, furniture, and supporting industries.This year, the event expects to welcome 8,000 visitors and 150 delegations from 30 countries and territories. It has received greatest-ever interest from world leading companies.Leading experts from Europe will give an online training to participants at the event on August 15 and an in-person training on August 12 to ensure that they are well prepared and make full use of opportunities from the event.Particularly, Walmart Inc , which operates approximately 10,500 stores and clubs in 20 countries and eCommerce websites, will send a team lead by one of its senior official to the Vietnam International Sourcing 2023 to seek partnership with Vietnamese firms./.

(Photo:VNA)Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam Yaron Mayer (Photo: tuoitre.vn)VNAThe upcoming signing of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and Israel will be a great achievement, opening up bilateral trade and investment cooperation opportunities , Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam Yaron Mayer has said.In a recent interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of the 30th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries (July 12, 1993-2023), the Israeli diplomat affirmed that the agreement will help bolster the bilateral relations.He highlighted the fruitful development of bilateral relations across fields, especially in trade, agriculture and education.Economic cooperation serves as a bridge to help Israel access Asia and Vietnam reach the Middle East market, he noted.Regarding agriculture cooperation, Israel and Vietnam have worked together to develop many new ideas and technologies that are suitable for Vietnam’s agriculture development through training programmes, the diplomat said, adding that thousands of Vietnamese students have been trained in Israel over the last 15 years.Mayer underlined the need for the two countries to further promote cooperation in education and training, saying that Israel wishes to contribute to Vietnam’s development through education-training cooperation, especially innovation.Israel has had specific cooperation projects with institutes and academies, universities, and agencies of the Vietnamese Government to develop and encourage training programmes for young people, he said.The diplomat also touched upon other potential fields that the two sides can expand cooperation, including climate change adaptation, clean energy, and green agriculture, adding that Israel has many new technologies and start-ups that are focusing on these industries.He emphasised the necessity to enhance the exchange of business delegations to learn experience and seek cooperation opportunities.The Israeli government and Embassy always create favourable conditions for enterprises of the two countries to strengthen trade and investment bonds, he affirmed.Vietnam and Israel have exchanged delegations to share experience in aquaculture, cyber security, and drainage; and worked together to develop ideas, Mayer said.Israeli investors have realised that Vietnam is an ideal destination for building factories and receiving technologies, while Vietnamese enterprises see Israel as a potential market for the pharmaceutical industry, high technology and others, he said.In the near future, the two-way trade is likely to exceed 2 billion USD, he noted.According to the diplomat, the two countries need to further enhance culture and people-to-people exchange, revealing that his country has planned to organise a concert in Vietnam later this year as one of the activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Vietnam – Israel diplomatic ties./.

Vietnam grabs attention of pharmaceutical companies from RoK

A pharmacy in Vietnam (Photo: VNA)– A delegation of pharmaceutical companies from the Republic of Korea (RoK) has visited Vietnam to seek chances for strengthening business partnerships, according to the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association (KPBMA).The fact-finding trip from July 5 to 8, following a State visit to Vietnam by the RoK’s President Yoon Suk Yeol in late June, was considered a demonstration of efforts by both the private and state sectors of the RoK to enter the Vietnamese market in the biopharmaceutical industry.With a plan approved during President Yoon’s visit to substantively implement the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership, bilateral cooperation in the biopharmaceutical industry is expected to expand, KPBMA said.On July 6, KPBMA, the RoK’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and the Drug Administration of Vietnam held a workshop on cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, attracting the participation of about 100 experts and officials.At another meeting the same day, Korean firms operating in Vietnam expressed their hope for more opportunities to discuss with regulatory agencies and businesses in the industry in emerging markets.Kang Seok-yeon, Director-General for the ministry’s Pharmaceutical Safety Bureau, said they hope the obstacles to businesses’ entry into the Vietnamese market will be resolved through the project currently pursued by the RoK’s Ministry of Health and Welfare, and that via the two Governments’ close cooperation, they will strive to address difficulties facing the industry.KPBMA Vice Chairman Jang Byung-won said that Vietnam has a highly potential pharmaceutical market that can become a bridge for companies of the RoK to enter the ASEAN market. They welcome efforts by the RoK’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to contact with drug regulatory agencies of Vietnam.Vietnam’s pharmaceutical market was estimated at about 8.2 billion USD as of 2022. It is forecast to grow 11% annually due to people’s increasing attention to health and multinationals’ strong investment, data of the Vietnam Industry Research and Consultancy (VIRAC) show.Together with the growth potential, Vietnam is also considered a gateway to ASEAN, so it has attracted attention from many Korean businesses./.
