Walmart Reaches Settlement Agreement for Opioid-Related Lawsuits
By Connor HartWalmart has reached a proposed settlement agreement in connection with three lawsuits regarding its distribution of prescription opioids. The settlement, which doesn't include any admission of liability, is subject to court approval, the retailer said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Friday. Under its terms, insurance carriers would pay the company $123 million, minus any awarded attorneys' fees and litigation expenses, and the company would maintain certain corporate governance practices for at least five years. If approved, the settlement would resolve certain shareholder derivative actions and release other potential derivative claims, Walmart said. CNN models using ultrasound images detect pancreatic neoplasms
A deep-learning method using endoscopic ultrasound images could detect pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms, according to research published October 17 in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. “The iEUS precisely diagnosed pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms and other confusing pancreatic lesions, thus could assist endosonographers in achieving more accessible and accurate endoscopic diagnoses via endoscopic ultrasound,” Ni and colleagues wrote. While endoscopic ultrasound is sensitive in detecting pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms, the modality is operator-dependent and time-consuming. Previous research has explored AI assistance for endoscopic ultrasound, but Ni et al pointed out a lack of data on AI assistance for pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms. Both CNN models demonstrated superior accuracy to that of novice endoscopic ultrasound users and comparable to that of intermediate and expert ultrasound users.
