The US president will arrive in the UK for his second state visit, an unprecedented gesture for an American leader, on Tuesday. A spokeswoman for the Stop Trump Coalition said: “After seeing the UK’s largest far-right demo this past weekend, it is even more essential to turn out to protest against Donald Trump’s state visit. Police have said officers will be ready to respond to a potential high-threat incident in Windsor ahead of Donald Trump’s state visit. Donald Trump's UK Visit ItineraryArmed officers will be patrolling the streets with Armed Response Vehicles (ARVs) ready to respond in case of increased threat, Thames Valley Police said last week during a media briefing at the force’s training centre in Sulhamstead, Berkshire. Trump’s stay with the King and Queen will have no public-facing element on the first day of his state visit, when he will remain within the private Windsor estate, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

"The New York Times will not be deterred by intimidation tactics," the spokesperson added. In a post late on Monday, Trump took issue at the Times' endorsement of his election rival, saying: "Their Endorsement of Kamala Harris was actually put dead center on the front page of The New York Times, something heretofore UNHEARD OF!" This is not the first time Trump has sought to sue the New York Times. In 2023, a judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by him, then an ex-president, against the New York Times, saying the claims in the lawsuit "fail as a matter of constitutional law". Trump also lost another defamation bid in 2023, when he sought in vain to sue CNN for allegedly likening him to Adolf Hitler.

The Times and Telegraph reported that a small group of migrants were removed from a Monday Air France flight due to travel from Heathrow to Paris after a legal challenge. A Government source said the first deportation flights under the deal with France are expected to take place this week. Earlier on Monday, skills minister Baroness Jacqui Smith refused to say how many people will be returned to France this week under the deal. Reports suggest formal removal directions have been issued to those who arrived in the UK on small boats last month, telling them they will be deported within five days. The number of migrants arriving in the UK after crossing the English Channel has topped 30,000 for the year so far.

The British government has summed Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin, shown in 2014, to London to express its displeasure over Russian drones entering NATO airspace. Britain’s government said Monday it has summoned the Russian ambassador in London following Moscow’s “unprecedented violation” of NATO airspace. The Foreign Office called the incursions into Polish and Romanian airspace in recent days “unacceptable” and summoned Andrei Kelin, the Russian ambassador. Significant and unprecedented violation of Polish and NATO airspace by Russian drones last week, followed by a further incursion into Romanian airspace on Saturday, was utterly unacceptable, the ministry said in a statement. Multiple Russian drones crossed into Poland on Wednesday in what European officials described as a deliberate provocation, causing NATO to send fighter jets to shoot them down.

Britain and the United States are expected to sign an agreement this week to help companies from one country to build nuclear projects in the other. The British government is hopeful that reaching a deal with the United States will speed up what has, so far, been a halting effort to build nuclear plants in Britain. “Together with the U.S., we are building a golden age of nuclear,” Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a statement on Monday. Mr. Starmer’s government favors construction of more nuclear plants despite their drawbacks. The industry’s advocates say that the benefits of having large domestic sources of power generation outweigh the negatives.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “The UK is a fair, tolerant and decent country. He previously used his X social media platform to start a war of words with the Government over grooming gangs in the UK. Sir Keir Starmer condemned the use of the flag as a symbol of “violence, fear and division” in a statement at the weekend. Sir Ed also said he had written to the Prime Minister, Opposition leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage over the weekend, urging them to join him in condemning the “dangerous” remarks. Asked about the language on Monday, Mr Farage said the “context” in which the words had been used left a “degree of ambiguity”.

Stories featuring Anne Simmons appeared in The Times, Daily Mail, Mirror and many other titles in the UK and around the worldStories featuring a ‘royal cleaner’ who claimed to have worked for the Royal Family for more than a decade have been withdrawn after questions were raised by Press Gazette about their authenticity. The Sun and Times (both part of News UK) removed articles about Simmons after Press Gazette asked questions about their authenticity. There remains the possibility that Anne Simmons is a pseudonym, but this is not made clear in any of the copy. Press Gazette contacted the agencies last week and this week to ask about Anne Simmons and other case studies, but got no reply. Press Gazette reached out to Edit Suits for comment via Linkedin and email and has not heard anything.
