Yvette Cooper condemned recent Russian incursions into Nato airspace as she addressed the UN Security Council for the first time as Foreign Secretary. The incursion followed similar incidents in Poland and Romania in which Russian drones were intercepted or shot down over Nato territory. Ms Reeves told ITV News that the Government and businesses need to “step up” in their efforts to deal with increasing threats to cyber security. “It’s coming from hostile states, states like Russia – and that’s why we are doing what we are doing. “A number of these attacks originate in Russia by Russian-backed entities, and we are getting a grip of that.”

The victim came across a man he did not know in the corridor of her apartment building in Westminster’s New Cavendish Street around 11.40pm on July 30. (Image: Met Police)After she challenged him, he followed her into her flat and put his hand over her mouth, trying to push his way inside. The victim’s partner came to the rescue from inside and chased the stranger off. “Can you help?”Police have released CCTV images of the suspect, described as white, 5ft 9in and balding, wearing a grey t-shirt and blue jeans. Katie Wallis, 41, of Butetown, Cardiff, the MP for Bridgend in South Wales from 2019 to 2024, became the first openly transgender MP in the House of Commons in 2022. She faces two charges relating to the possession of a false passport. The first is possession of an identity document with improper intention, “namely a British passport in the name of Jamie Wallis, that was false and that she knew or believed to be false”. The second charge relates to the possession of a false identity document in the name of Jamie Wallis “that was false”. Wallis was alleged to be in possession of the document in April 2022, while she was still serving as a Conservative MP.

Coroner Andrew Hetherington ruled the death was an accident and found that Mr Voyce had not taken his usual route home in the prevailing conditions that night. Mr Wood said they drank alcohol in the pub, but he observed no ill-effects in Mr Voyce that evening. Dr Bloxham said there were no signs of external or internal damage and that Mr Voyce was "a well-built, muscular man". She said Mr Voyce, who was not a regular, was "good conversation" and stood at the end of the bar in good spirits. The couple, who had a son, Oscar, moved to Northumberland where Mr Voyce set up a business, having previously worked in banking after he retired from rugby.

The Daily Telegraph, external leads on the Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage's pledge to deport hundreds of thousands of legal migrants. The main headline in the Daily Express reads "West warned ISIS could be reborn in 24 hours". The paper says prison camps holding extremists in Syria are on the verge of violent uprisings which could see thousands of prisoners freed. The Sun, external says a British special forces soldier was shot seven times by accident during a training exercise. The paper says live ammo was used instead of blanks during the hostage drill and that the soldier was saved by a bulletproof vest.
