He arrived on Nov 11 and tested positive on day 5. The case from Japan is a Thai masseuse aged 37 who also arrived on Nov 11 and tested positive on day 4.

Bank of Thailand holds rates, mulls moves to curb bahtBank of Thailand governor Setthaput Suthiwart-Narueput attends his first Monetary Policy Committee meeting, on Wednesday. The central bank held its key rate at 0.5% in a unanimous decision, saying it’s prepared to use additional monetary tools if necessary. Bank of Thailand Assistant Governor Titanun Mallikamas on Wednesday attributed the recent strength to risk-on flows into emerging markets. The government has wanted the central bank to temper the baht’s recent rally as it threatens exports. Finance Minister Arkhom Termipittayapaisith said Monday he’d discuss with the central bank possible measures to restrain the currency.

Seven riot police also tested negative for drug use after some crystal methamphetamine was found in a police van. Police claimed the drugs were planted in the vehicle, which had been surrounded and damaged during the confrontation. Police were filing a complaint against people who distributed "fake news" regarding the drugs in the police van. Fifty-five people were treated for injuries and illness, including six for gunshot wounds, during clashes between rival demonstrators outside parliament on Tuesday. Some amount of crystal meth and equipment used for taking the drugs are found in a police van, but police insist the drugs were planted.

She tested positive the following day, but was asymptomatic. He had been previously diagnosed with Covid-19 on Oct 28 and treated, and tested positive on arrival, also without any symptoms. Of the total 3,880 cases, 3,729 (96%) have recovered, including five discharged over the past 24 hours, and 91 were in hospitals, the CCSA said.

The order, which became effective yesterday, permits taxi drivers to charge passengers between 20 baht and 100 baht extra for luggage. Wheelchairs are not considered luggage, nor are small bags such as small backpacks, laptop bags or small carry-on bags. According to the announcement, taxi drivers and passengers have to reach an agreement on the charge. Abortion in first 12 weeks to be allowed(Bangkok Post file photo)The cabinet has approved a law amendment bill that allows women with pregnancies of not more than 12 weeks to get an abortion. If approved by the House of Representatives early next year, the bill will let such women have abortion if they “insist on terminating the pregnancies”. The new Section 301 allows women with pregnancies of not more than 12 weeks to get abortion. In the current version, abortion is not allowed in all cases. A clause will be added to allow any woman with a pregnancy not more than 12 weeks to get an abortion if she insists on terminating it.
