The minimum velocity needed for an underwater landslide to trigger a tsunami is still unconfirmed, Sawyer said. The underwater landslides themselves ripped apart underwater communication cables connecting the U.S. and Europe. After all, getting a better grip on the mechanics of underwater landslides could give the public time to prepare for the hazards they cause. The techniques highlighted in the paper will also be made available to researchers interested in modeling underwater landslide deformation zones in other parts of the world.

Road repairs on US-20 toward Arco start Tuesday
IDAHO FALLS — Beginning Tuesday, road construction will commence on US-20 for approximately 13 miles from milepost 301 ending at 288 west of Idaho Falls. This project is to make repairs to the existing roadway and extend the lifespan of the highway. Road work will take place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. and cover approximately 13 miles from Idaho Falls towards Arco. Motorists should anticipate reduced speeds and traffic control with a pilot car to guide traffic through the workzone. Blue Moon, as Jeff Bezos’ commercial space company Blue Origin has named it, is one of two lunar landers selected and purchased by NASA (SpaceX is the other) for more money than most of us will ever see in a lifetime: $3.4 billion. Right now, we’re still working toward launching Artemis II, which is expected to send astronauts around the moon and back to Earth, not to the moon. Artemis III is supposed to be the first landing of astronauts on the moon using SpaceX’s lunar lander - the mega-rocket Starship. And I continue to track NASA’s SLS as the Artemis I Moon Rocket is readied for rollout and first flight.

ST. ANTHONY — A home in the heart of St. Anthony is likely a total loss after a fire Sunday afternoon, according to fire officials. The fire was called to 126 East 2nd North in St. Anthony at about 1:30 p.m., Dave Fausett of the St. Anthony Fire Department told EastIdahoNews.com. St. Anthony Fire Department responded with four trucks. South Fremont Fire Department and the St. Anthony Police Department assisted. “(The house) is probably a total loss,” Fausett said.
