Sampanthan will Lie-in-State in the Assembly Hall of Parliament from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm on Wednesday for final respects, the Parliamentary Secretariat said. Political leaders, politicians and diplomatic community expressed condolences on the passing away of veteran Tamil leader. President Ranil Wickremesinghe said: “I express my deepest condolences on the passing of Mr R. Sampanthan. Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha said: “Deeply saddened at the demise of TNA leader Shri R. Sampanthan. He will be remembered for his seminal contribution to the Sri Lankan Tamil cause & for his goodwill towards India.
