ITAK keeps out of campaign to have a Tamil candidate for Presidential pollsNewsThe Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has opted to stay out from the call to have a Tamil candidate at the upcoming Presidential elections. They were not part of signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Tamil parties and civil organisations on Monday in Jaffna to field a Tamil candidate. Former northern Chief Minister C. V. Vigneswaran who heads the Tamil People’s Alliance , Dharmalingam Siddharthan -leader of the People’s Liberation Organisation Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), Selvam Adaikkalanathan – leader of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) were among the key politicians currently in Parliament who signed the MOU. N. Srikantha led Tamil National Party and Suresh Premachandran led Eelam People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) were the others who signed the MOU. The ITAK is considered the strongest party in Parliament representing the north and the eastern provinces.
