Apple’s car chief is heading to Ford
Ford has hired away Apple’s car chief, Doug Field, to become its chief advanced technology and embedded systems officer. The departure is the latest shake-up for Apple’s car division, which has undergone numerous shifts over the past several years. Despite starting the project in 2014, work on an autonomous electric vehicle is still in an early stage, Bloomberg reported in January. Apple’s car efforts were reportedly moved under the purview of John Giannandrea, the company’s SVP of machine learning and AI, in December. Ford has also said that Google’s Android will power infotainment systems in “millions” of its cars starting in 2023.

Health Ministry says ball in Education Ministry’s court

The EFSL has also requested the authorities to empower provincial, zonal and divisional education officers to work with the health sector authorities to reopen smaller schools. “Regardless of the teachers strike, schools in Sri Lanka have been closed for over 18 months due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Students who had access to Internet based education through their teachers, constituted only half of the student population. The mental health and emotional issues faced by locked in students compound all of the above.

Here is the company’s statement: Fossil has, via a recent update, removed watch faces to optimize performance and free memory on our devices. The update appears to include two new watch faces: “Fitness Digital” and “Dashboard Digital.”As nice as that is, the update also appears to have removed no fewer than 33 watch faces. This appears to primarily affect the Fossil Gen 5 but could also affect other models in that family, such as the Fossil Gen 5E and their LTE variants. That seems like a possibility, but we know for certain that Wear OS 3 isn’t coming to the Fossil Gen 5 models.

Committee to make recommendations on relief for SMEs
The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval for the appointment of a committee comprised of officials to recommend on the reliefs to be granted to small and medium scale entrepreneurs. After identifying their hardships, a methodology will be proposed for the preparation of a database on the small and medium scale entrepreneurs. Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to the resolution furnished by the Minister of Industries for the implementation of recommendations tabled by the said committee comprised of officials in regard to appropriate reliefs to be granted to the small and medium scale entrepreneurs affected by both the Covid – 19 pandemic circumstances and the Easter Sunday Attacks.

India announces Ayurveda scholarships for Sri Lankan nationals
The High Commission of India Colombo has announced a scholarship programme for Sri Lankan nationals under the Ayush Scholarship Scheme for UG/PG/PhD courses in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy for the 2021-22 academic year. The Indian Government selects meritorious Sri Lankan nationals for award of these scholarships in consultation with the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of Sri Lanka. The awarded scholarships would cover full tuition fees, a monthly sustenance allowance for the entire duration of the course, an accommodation allowance and an annual grant. The necessary details will be available in the website of Ministry of Education at www.mohe.gov.lk.
