The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval for the appointment of a committee comprised of officials to recommend on the reliefs to be granted to small and medium scale entrepreneurs. After identifying their hardships, a methodology will be proposed for the preparation of a database on the small and medium scale entrepreneurs. Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to the resolution furnished by the Minister of Industries for the implementation of recommendations tabled by the said committee comprised of officials in regard to appropriate reliefs to be granted to the small and medium scale entrepreneurs affected by both the Covid – 19 pandemic circumstances and the Easter Sunday Attacks.

The High Commission of India Colombo has announced a scholarship programme for Sri Lankan nationals under the Ayush Scholarship Scheme for UG/PG/PhD courses in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy for the 2021-22 academic year. The Indian Government selects meritorious Sri Lankan nationals for award of these scholarships in consultation with the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of Sri Lanka. The awarded scholarships would cover full tuition fees, a monthly sustenance allowance for the entire duration of the course, an accommodation allowance and an annual grant. COVID vaccination programmes conducted by the Ministry of Health and the Sri Lanka Army are continuing in many parts of the island today (September 07). Accordingly, the Sinopharm jabs will be administered to people in Colombo (RDHS and CMC), Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Puttalam (Nattandiya, Wennappuwa, Dankotuwa and Madampe MOH areas), Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Monaragala, Badulla, Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Ampara, Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts. Meanwhile, the second dose of the Moderna vaccine will be delivered in all MOH areas in the Kandy District.
