Rs. 106 Million allocated as Prize money for Paralympic winners
COLOMBO (News 1st): A special Cabinet paper had been approved for the reward scheme of Tokyo 2020 Paralympics winners, the Ministry of Youth and Sports says. The special Cabinet paper has been approved on the request of the Sports and Youth Minister, Namal Rajapaksa. 106.625 million will be allocated to medal winning athletes and their respective coaches. @RajapaksaNamal a special cabinet paper was approved today for the reward scheme of the #ParalympicsTokyo2020 medal winners! Accordingly the entirety of the prize money will be allocated to medal winning athletes & the respective coaches!

Committee to make recommendations on relief for SMEs
The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval for the appointment of a committee comprised of officials to recommend on the reliefs to be granted to small and medium scale entrepreneurs. After identifying their hardships, a methodology will be proposed for the preparation of a database on the small and medium scale entrepreneurs. Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to the resolution furnished by the Minister of Industries for the implementation of recommendations tabled by the said committee comprised of officials in regard to appropriate reliefs to be granted to the small and medium scale entrepreneurs affected by both the Covid – 19 pandemic circumstances and the Easter Sunday Attacks.

India announces Ayurveda scholarships for Sri Lankan nationals
The High Commission of India Colombo has announced a scholarship programme for Sri Lankan nationals under the Ayush Scholarship Scheme for UG/PG/PhD courses in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy for the 2021-22 academic year. The Indian Government selects meritorious Sri Lankan nationals for award of these scholarships in consultation with the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of Sri Lanka. The awarded scholarships would cover full tuition fees, a monthly sustenance allowance for the entire duration of the course, an accommodation allowance and an annual grant. The necessary details will be available in the website of Ministry of Education at www.mohe.gov.lk. COVID vaccine clinics operated by Army, Health Ministry today
COVID vaccination programmes conducted by the Ministry of Health and the Sri Lanka Army are continuing in many parts of the island today (September 07). Accordingly, the Sinopharm jabs will be administered to people in Colombo (RDHS and CMC), Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Puttalam (Nattandiya, Wennappuwa, Dankotuwa and Madampe MOH areas), Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Monaragala, Badulla, Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Ampara, Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts. Meanwhile, the second dose of the Moderna vaccine will be delivered in all MOH areas in the Kandy District. People living in Puttalam, Anamaduwa, Pallama, Karuwalagaswewa and Mundal MOH areas in Puttalam District will receive the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine today. BPPL records Rs. 1.2 b gross profit in FY 20/21
