Once again, Pakistan has waged the only war it has repeatedly won: the ones started against our own Constitution and countrymen. PTI supporters took to the streets. In Rawalpindi, PTI supporters pelted stones on the gate of army’s General Headquarters, damaged Army martyrs’ monuments and memorials. In his various public rallies and addresses, the ex-Premier Khan showed his contradictory statements. Sometimes, he appreciated the Pakistan Army and sometimes, censured it, while targeting the former army chief, Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, stating: “A major international conspiracy was carried out against his regime’s removal through America’s threatening diplomatic cypher.

An education specialist at UNICEF, Asif Abrar, recently pointed out that Pakistan tops the worldwide list of out of school children, outlining how this should be treated as no less than an education emergency. Based on UNICEF data, approximately 22.8 million children aged 5-16 in Pakistan do not attend school, accounting for 44 percent of the population in this age range. The unprecedented rains and floods last year had caused large-scale migrations and caused massive damage to school buildings, which ultimately affected the education of children in this age group. The exodus of the masses from flood-affected areas has intensified the dropout ratio of children, which makes it impossible to achieve educational targets and outcomes. Access and connectivity still remain an issue in many parts, which is essential for distance learning programs.

According to the Economic Survey of Pakistan 2022–23’s executive summary, Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) calls for Pakistan to change its education system into one that is high-quality and market-driven globally. Tertiary Education Affairs & Services received a budgetary allocation of Rs 74,609 billion; Pre-Primary & Primary Education received Rs 3,786 billion; Secondary Education Affairs received Rs 8,863 billion, and Administration received Rs 2 billion. Our Education System:In a world where education up to high school is a ‘right’ for all children and financed by the state, Pakistan is a country where the education system is the most polarized, dispersed, and unequal in the entire world. Education is a privilege in Pakistan; the level of parental or family income determines access to quality education. Although some high-priced private institutions offer good education, most private schools and institutions are low-priced, for-profit institutions, where the quality of education is also substandard.

In Western and non-western societies where leadership has promoted the culture of research and innovation, discoveries, probes, doubts, inquiries, investigations, and fact-finding have made inroads into their educational institutions, leading to the emergence of a critical mass essential for a vibrant strategic culture of research. Otherwise, there would have been vibrant research centres and policy-oriented think tanks dealing with domestic and foreign policy challenges. In the strategic culture of research, there are four requirements: professionals, resources, programmes, and leadership. In a nutshell, the promotion of a strategic culture of research in Pakistan is not only crucial for economic growth but also for addressing societal challenges and fostering innovation. By fostering partnerships and encouraging interdisciplinary research, Pakistan can tap into the collective wisdom and expertise of various stakeholders, leading to innovative solutions and sustainable development.
