Sinkholes disrupt city traffic
Sinkholes formed on the roads due to ongoing rains have disrupted traffic flow across the provincial capital. In Gawalmandi, an under-construction road gave way while a car was passing it following the rain on Saturday. District administration officials pulled out the vehicle with a crane and issued orders to fill the ditch after temporarily closing the road for traffic. Traffic in the Muslim Town area was also suspended because of a big sinkhole on the main road of the locality. A large number of potholes also disrupted traffic flow in Johar Town.

Manipur and the burning North East
The north-eastern Indian state of Manipur shares borders with Myanmar to the east and south. The current strategic crisis in Indian North East, especially Manipur stems from the Meitei people’s long-standing quest for Scheduled Tribe designation under the Indian Constitution, which would grant them rights similar to those enjoyed other tribal communities. After 40 days of violence, Modi came out publically to acknowledge that India has been shamed. During an interview with Barkha Dutt on 22 July, the Subedar was in tears and stated that he could not have dreamed what has happened to Christian community in Manipur and his wife. While the real issue is the hidden agenda is carved out from the parts of NE India, Myanmar & Bangladesh.

A precarious economic crisis and IMF’s reforms
Pakistan is facing a severe economic crisis that has been exacerbated by the global energy crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and rising inflation. The agreement involves the implementation of prior actions, notably on fiscal and institutional reforms, before final approval is given by the IMF’s executive board. It has also agreed to broaden the tax base by bringing more people into the tax net and enhancing compliance. Dar likely to become caretaker PM
ISLAMABAD - Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar would likely become caretaker prime minister as Pakistan Muslim league (N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have jointly nominated him for the post. However, the government would get endorsement on Ishaq Dar from the leadership of other PDM member parties. Ishaq Dar is currently senator and there is no legal hitch in his way of becoming the caretaker prime minister. His name for caretaker PM post was initially floated by Nawaz Sharif to PPP which was accepted. PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would likely call a meeting of the leadership of ruling allies this week where the name of caretaker PM would be finalized.

Saqib Nisar led ‘gang of conspirators’ against Nawaz: Shehbaz
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar led the “gang of conspirators” against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif. The next prime minister will be Nawaz Sharif. “Imran Niazi was made the prime minister through rigged polls, with malfunctioning of RTS and the PML-N was deprived of its seats”, he added. Imran Niazi’s corruption, bad governance cause of economic malaise: PM
In an interview with a private television, he said Imran Niazi damaged relations with friendly, brotherly countries including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and China. “Imran Niazi falsely accused me of corruption of 45 percent in Chinese assisted projects and damaged relations with China,” he remarked. He said corruption was rife during the tenure of Imran Niazi and every day a new scandal of corruption surfaced, including sugar, wheat and Malam Jabba scams. He recalled that Imran Niazi did not buy gas from the international market at the rate of three dollars, and the negligence added to the economic difficulties of the people. He said May 9 was an anti-state activity and was an internal conspiracy led by Imran Niazi and his associates who attacked installations of armed forces.

Engage TTP, what?
The reported undiplomatic sermon from Afghan Taliban, urging Islamabad to engage the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan in talks is nothing but a tactic to deviate public opinion. Moreover, Kabul also understands that it is in a pledge with the international community to persuade the TTP to not use its soil for nefarious activities, and to exterminate all such elements. Thus, the lecture to take to the table seems to be a friendly gesture more towards the TTP, then actually addressing the menace of cross-border terrorism. This new stunt from the Taliban will surely be contested by Pakistan, and the regional states alike. This is the reason Pakistan’s civil and military leadership had called it a day, and resolved not to engage anymore with such dreaded entities.
